You could take your pick of poor performances today or this season but the drop off of this guy has been staggering. So slow, cumbersome, lazy and does nothing. I don't get it.

Yeah he's been really poor all season, his form was patchy at the end of last season too. This version of him definately doesn't work in a CM twoThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Its because he's having to do the defensive work for 3 players. He's covering Elliott/Mo, our RB playing as a winger and then he himself still being DM - in an injury ravaged/geriatric midfield.
And people wonder why he looks knackered. He is

I have to say I don't think that trio works when Thiago and Elliott don't really have the same back and forth dynamism. You need at least two to be working their legs all match. Fab does look knackered to me, it's a lot of ground to cover.Experimental music, Metropolitan foodstuffs, Mexican wrestler art, London suburbia, wry whimsy, fansy pants flim flam lad

as I said above, he's doing the work of 3 players. Sort this new **** system we're trying to play out and I bet he'll be back to his fab selfOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostWas hardly a geriatric midfield on Saturday?
He’s been poor, why do you give him a pass?"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

You’d hope so but he’s been nowhere near his normal self……. this slump must be training related or some squad disharmony. I can’t believe the drop off is just they all aged togetherOriginally posted by Harv View Postas I said above, he's doing the work of 3 players. The problem for me is the minutes he's played and the lack of opportunity for a rest because of the limited availability of other players in the midfield. Realistically there is him, Henderson and Thiago who are experienced players who are able to start games regularly, you can add Elliott as an up and coming player of appropriate quality but he lacks experience. Milner has the experience but doesn't have the legs and has been filling in elsewhere in the side. The lack of availability of Keita and Ox in particular and Jones to a lesser extent over the last year and Arthur Melo since he arrived is a big problem for our midfield, for me Fabinho is suffering from that.
I also don't think that going to a 2 man centre midfield suits the players we have particularly when you consider that his partner in there is a 31 year old Thiago or a 32 year old Henderson.
IMO if we had been able to swap Keita and Ox even for players of similar quality but who were actually available for games that would make a big difference to everyone in our midfield. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Seems like puntong Morton out on loan was a mistake. He is doing really well by all accounts. Not that having a load of kids is the answer, but in terms of having better bespoke cover for positions he looks a prospect.
As per every season we have struggled, you just cannot legislate for this level of injury, which asks a bigger question.Modifying post.
