Definitely seems we got wind of something, That Thuram deal looked all but done. I know some say it was Nice changing goalposts. But I am sure we never thought both would go. I do wonder if we will pay the 45m+ for Paulinha, Premiership ready, A year younger than Fab and a definite upgrade based on last season alone.

I think it is this. And, with Thiago, Jones, Elliot, Bajcetic and Moreton in the wings plus the possibility of using TAA and Gakpo in midfield I don't think we will buy anyone to replace Hendo in the squad.

Didn't Fulham knock back a 50m bid already for him and say they want at least 80m?

Hendo is a different matter as we have a ton of players who can play there.

If we sell Fab we only really have MacAllister. Thiago doesnt have the bulk or strength... and is made of balsa wood

I thought they knocked back 40m and I read somewehere that 50m might swing it.

            80m is ****ing ridiculous

It truly is a sellers market out there this season. Ask what you want, some ****er will pay!!

Every player has a price, Contracts don't reflect any market value anymore its all going nuts.

With Fabinho here someone like Lavia I could have seen coming in, Lavia learns from Fabinho and eventually (in a year to two) has fully replaced him in the side. From that point of view Lavia is signed as a promising youngster/backup in the short term with a clear path to regular position. That doesn’t work if we are bringing in another DM who is younger than Fabinho, so I don't see us going for Lavia as plan A, maybe if he hasn't moved by late in the window and our other option haven't worked out... I just feel If we were that keen we would have done a deal by now.
              it is a genuine concern.

Losing Fabinho is a bit of an inconvenience

£20m and Fab for Kimmich would do me
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Going to pass on that one even though I really rate Kimmich.

Need to be bringing in guys younger than 28.

If Kimmich was younger and we were having to replace TAA and still looking to play with an inverted RB, then Kimmich would be a no brainer, maybe even an upgrade for that particular position.

I would still happily take Palacios for the DM role tbh if we could get him for 40m or less.

I'd be disappointed if he did stay in the end. I'm one of those that thinks he's on the decline. Happy to be proven wrong if he does stay. I do wonder if that Bayern story will gather pace.

I think if he did stay, he’d get back to his level from a couple of seasons back if he was in a 3 with 2 of mac allister, szobo or Trent.

I wonder if the Bayern interest is why the deal is stalling. Could be he/his family prefer the idea of moving to Germany over Saudi?
