Would hope for a bit more than we paid tbh.. we’d even struggle to replace his talents for £35m, even recruiting someone expecting to be a squad player.

He’s an injury prone 31 year old with a year left on his contract on 200k p/w. I love him as a player but surely not even the Saudi’s would pay more than that……

No doubt he’d be v hard to replace but having someone available would be a good start

I would rather give his place to Jones who has come on in leaps & bounds since he came back into the team as he will improve further thus the savings we make in the weekly bill & our money back if Thiago is sold.

          Poor old Thiago.

The latest scapegoat for the waste of wages tag now that Keita and Chamberlain are no longer around

Christ help Matip if he gets injured again this season as he only has a year left on his contract as well.

His 140 pl games in 7 seasons gives him a worse average (just) per league season than Thiago.

Watch out Joel and Thiago. Do not be led into any trailers belonging to ESTers, otherwise you are going to become glue.

I think Thiago is much more replacable than Matip is. Matip is probably one of the most underrated players we have had in the past 20 years. I doubt he is on 200k a week, and we got him on a free. He also quit internationals years ago.

I wouldnt be totally adverse to handing him an extension on a year by year basis.

As much as I like Konate, he is not in Martp's class. For me he is slightly less complete than VVD., maybe losing a bit of pace and physicality in the past year. But getting a like for like replacement will be very expensive.

Replacing Thiago will cost a lot less, as despite his class, the system does not require someone with his exact skillset.

To be honest. Happy for Thiago to stay too. He was much better at pressing and ballwinning than Henderson was last season when he was fit. But a 30m bid would be a no brainer.

Since coming to us, he's managed 3 goals and 6 assists. Possibly the most overrated player we've ever had. Looks nice on the ball, but doesn't actually do a lot.

Matip right now has more than a decade more experience on Konate so not really comparing like for like.

If Konate progresses anything at all like Matip as he gains experience then he will be an amazing defender in a few years.

He already reads the game really well, brings the ball out fropm the back well and is a good passer.

Tbh the arguements you make for keeping Matip are probably the same ones that could be made for keeping Thiago for his final year.

A fit Matip is probably not our best CB whereas a fit Thiago is our best midfielder right now. Plus if we bring in more midfielders then we can manage Thiago's time better for his final 12 months.

Would fancy that 12 months of training with and playing alongside Thiago would do a hell of a lot of good for any new midfielders we get and the likes of Jones has commented on how much of an influence Thiago in particular has been on him in terms of training technigues, diet etc.

For me both see out their contracts, unless both want to leave and both see big offers come in for them, and we use them whilst we blood in their future replacements.

Thiago is a great player, if he could play every game that would be fantastic, the problem is he can't, he's averaging just over 2100 mins in all competitions in his time here, which equates to about 23 full games a season, which is fewer minutes than Elliott played last season, and about 800 mins fewer per season than Henderson and about 1400 mins fewer than Fabinho average in the same period.

With 1 year left on his contract we have a decision to make, offer him a new contract in the next year knowing he will be 33 on high wages and probably not playing a huge amount, let him see out his current contract and teach any new signings a few things or if an offer comes in we let him go and get a fee for him. Obviously depending on what business we do this summer somewhat but I would be surprised if we offered him a new contract, as I say he is a good player and younger players could learn alot from him, but every player has their price and if a decent offer comes in we'd be foolish not to consider it IMO.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Sell and replace with big mobile units to run around and dominate the midfield area.
Much of tiagos game is taking and ball and releasing quick passes but I don't see him covering much ground and physically dominating other players.

He’s not a scapegoat, far from it, I would say he’s in our top 5 most essential players with Ali, Trent, Mo and VVD …….but he gets injured a lot and ability without availability means f all.

I’d keep him and roll him out for the 20 most important games a season if I could. If we buy two more midfielders we might be able to do that. On the flip side selling him for 25m plus the difference in wages might pay for Manu Kone for example.

I'd be stunned if we kept all three of Henderson, Thiago, and Fabinho. Add in the likes of Bajcetic, Elliott, MacAllister, Jones, and our supposed interest in at least two other midfielders, I'm expecting at least one of our elderly mids to depart.

Exactly, while we need to hold on to the English to meet our homegrown quota then the likes of Thiago & Fabinho are the ones at risk of getting expunged when/if we do get another couple of oversea midfield recruits.

                            * LFC have been informed that the Saudi's are going to out an offer in for Thiago
                            * We'll turn our attentions to getting Barella if Thiago offer is acceptable

Speculation of the highest order or a wannabe insider... either way, I'd bite their hand off for Thiago sale and Barella coming in. More goals, younger and available all season - no brainer.

We could end up with a new half a first team at this rate... yeah, like FSG are gonna sanction that much spending!? Unless the investment coming in by summer is actually happening...

Oh he will be if he sees out his final season and picks up a few big injuries during that spell.

He is going to get the stick on forums that Keita and Chamberlain are no longer here to get

Thiago if he wanted to go and there was a bid of say what we paid for him, then fair enough let him go.

But I would not be actively looking to move him or Matip for that matter seeing as I mentioned Matip earlier.

I am struggling to think of another midfielder that we currently have that I would want more around a batch of new midfielders in training for a year and to help them off the pitch too. Same with the likes of Jones, Ealliot, Bajcetic etc.

Not Henderson, Not Fabinho. No disprespect to either as they have been stalwarts but give me a guy who is interested in coaching, of whom the manager has spoken about as having become an active part of the coaching sessions from the coaching side of it, and who has won it all and done it all and who can still show you want him means when it comes to playing as well as simply tell you what to do.

Thiago staying for another 12 months whilst his replacement and other new players settle in is a no brainer for me. It has long been said that settling into a Klopp midfield system is a tough thing to do. When we got Thiago he literally slotted in like he had played for Klopp all his career. Having a guy like that to help break things down for new players and to help get them up to speed in training would be invaluable imo.

Even if a player is not as technically gifted as Thiago, just training with him and learning off of him for a year would be a great way to kickstart their start to being at Liverpool. Imo again of course.

Same with Matip. Get a new CB in, and let him be settling in and getting up to speed with our systems whilst Matip is still here to fill in on the pitch and help out on the training ground.

If both can give us 25 games in the league worth of minutes this coming season plus some cup minutes, that'll do me as the new guys will hopefully be taking the lionshare by the time we hit the half way mark and onwards.
