The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
And that's pretty much why he is expendable in my eyes.
Yeah he might need less chances to score than Nunez and waaaaay less than the likes of Diaz etc, but that is worthless if he misses so many games each season.
No point being a better finisher than almost all the other attackers is your end of season tally ends up being about the same.
I wonder if a new approach to training and other things with a new manager might make a difference to the injury numbers. Would one of the areas the recruiting process be looking at is the injury toll the manager has and if the approach they take is a factor.
It’d also like to see Szoboszlai play one of the wide roles for a bit and see what he’s like there. He’s style looks like he’d cause real problems for defenders.
3 out of 4 seasons suggests it is not a case of being unlucky though.
If a big offer came in I would take it.
We talk about how Thiago and Matip leaving is two injury prone players less, but we still have plenty that we know have great on pitch qualities but that we simply cannot rely on to be fit for most of a season.
We got lucky this year with Gomez and him being available to cover three positions when we needed the cover but we still needed the emergence of Quansah to cover for Konate having regular niggles and that allowed Gomez to be able to cover at LB.
Plus we were lucky that Bradley swam rather than sunk when he had to be thrown in.
Even if Klopp had been staying we are in a position where we have a really good squad but one that still needed an injection of quality and durable players and that is without taking into account that three of our biggest names in Slah, VVD and TAA are going into the final 12 months of their respective contracts.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
