This is a remarkable stat

Its frustrating we're losing an amazing 26 year old. Current keeper while awesome is 32. Allison might have another 4-6 years in him, not sure when a keepers reflexes start to really dip, but thats like saying we have another 10 of kelleher. Hate to see him leave. And for ****ing 18mill. The new keeper we signed is not even at kellehers level. Everytime Allison broke down it didnt bother me since I knew backup was fine. Wont feel that confident anymore.

The rumour I read says we sell Kweeve to Brentford on the cheap and they sell their keeper to Leverkusen at a fair price & they in turn reduce the asking price for Wirtz.Originally posted by vlahka View PostIts frustrating we're losing an amazing 26 year old. Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I don't think that's true.Originally posted by vlahka View PostIts frustrating we're losing an amazing 26 year old. Current keeper while awesome is 32. I think there is a bit of loyalty / agreement happening here; 12 months ago his stock was high & was pushing for a move but we needed him for the season just past. I reckon there is a bit of a stay for 12 months & then you can go at a reduced fee, thus ensuring the options open to him are greater.
Could be me just having rose tineted glasses, but Hughes/Edwards would see the benefit for both parties.
We would have got around 25mill last summer(+add ons), no more

I think van den Berg was a good buy, not sure about Carvalho though.Originally posted by elrichio86 View PostSeeing as we rinsed Brentford last summer (£20m for van den Berg and £27.5m for Carvalho), maybe we kinda owed them one?"We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

I also think Leverkusen buying Flecken for so low a price could be a consideration in a round about way. Everyone helping each other out.Originally posted by elrichio86 View PostSeeing as we rinsed Brentford last summer (£20m for van den Berg and £27.5m for Carvalho), maybe we kinda owed them one?
The most important factor is probably a loyalty one, he never kicked up a fuss and stayed patient. Depending on the clauses then 18m with one year left is good all round
