It's the lack of other comparisons I find interesting though.

There were a lot of big money attacking players bought. With more than two coming to the PL for the first time.

Antony I have heard it said in the media that his price tag should be ignored and that he needs time to settle. Have heard the same said for Isak.

Nunez on the other hand is almost being written off already by some pundits as an "obvious waste of money", with the price tag of over £80m being used each time, and no talk of him needing time to settle before judging him.

He is a bit frustrating at times, but definitely too early to call it.

Loads of potential, gets in good positions. He needs games, we need wins. You can (one can) definitely see the potential. If he'd buried that chance last night it would have been good as the move leading to it was sublime.

        Far too early.

2 starts and one sub appearance in the league - with a goal and an assist from that.

And a further 52 minutes spread between two CL games.

228 competitive minutes on the pitch for us overall so far.

I agree but the media love to build the narrative about rivalry. Oh and he cost 65m - if we pay 80m then he’ll have helped us win a lot of stuff

It’s really not hard to understand why tbh.

City and Liverpool have been the best sides in the league by a massive distance and we both bought strikers, the expectation was that these two players would be the determining factor in which of us wins the league this year. Anthony signed for a second tier club, nobody gave a ****.

I know that, the media know that, but they keep using the 80m + figure whereas other players get the not including add ons figure.

I know it is all part of the game for clicks and views, but irks a bit sometimes due to how blatant it is.

Because he's had a bit of an indifferent start with the red card and comparisons to Haaland, I'd love for him to become our Mascherano-type striker and start bullying defenders and banging them in from all areas of the eighteen yard box.

It would be great if he could control the red mist to 'just before he does enough to get sent off' but keeps it as 'what a pain in the arse this ****er is' in the minds of every CB in the league... Our Shearer but with more transparency... Shearer was always perceived as fair by the media darlings, but he was a massively snide footballer with his elbows and sneaky kicks. Nunez can be our RvN with extra aggro...

Would love Haaland to just get a proper takedown by someone with some cahonas. Give him a niggling injury for the next 9 months...

The media created the comparison, it adds a bit more excitement in their eyes

                        I thought exactly the same
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

                          Maybe he meant Tevez?

Or Mascherano esque in terms of physicality and use of the dark arts?

I think it was more along the lines of a similar tenacity rather than playing the same position

Should have gone for the straight Suarez comparison
