There is a real narrative amongst non Liverpool fans and media to destroy Nunez which is distasteful and a bit juvenile.

Plenty of "Reds" started knocking him straight after his first game in pre season. Phone in ******s and Twitter tits were falling over themselves to stick the knife in.

We have to admit that Darwin is a work in progress but cant deny he is a chance magnet. When the goals eventually flow we could see something special . We just need to be patient with him.

Is nuts how often he gets into good positions and loses a marker.

And he usually hits the target. I think he will be fantastic with a bit of patience

Highest non-penalty expected goals per 90 of any striker / forward in the league. He’s going to be fine.

                        1. Darwin - 0.89
                        2. Haaland - 0.85
                        3. Bamford - 0.66
                        10. Salah - 0.46

Hard to know how to interpret that- must mean he has one of the worst goals to expected goals ratios then, haha

I think we’ll have a better idea of how good he is by the World Cup break anyway, he’ll surely get plenty of game time the next few weeks.

According to stats he's played 285 mins of league football so that's 3.16 games with expected goals of 0.89 per 90mins the has an expected goals of 2.81, he has 2 league goals so he's not that far off his expected, the bigger issue for me is that is based on really small stats.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

yup he will get more games and more time to improve. The media have been lashing him out of it & some of our fans have been running to his rescue. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. His movement is excellent and he is getting into good positions but his touch, passing and composure in front of goal really needs to improve.

He'll start tonight probably wide left/left striker depending on our setup of course which he seems to like and he will get chances, he just needs to relax a bit, play his natural game and rely on his instincts. The guy is just too much in his own head at the moment, it's so clear to see the panic and frustration of trying to impress at a club like LFC. IMO though it was more important to get Mo firing than Darwin and if a change in formation is to get Mo back to his best then imo that is the priority.
