I've only just recovered from that mauling the Bears received Sunday night. Bears weather my arse. The Patriots proved that they are serious Super Bowl contenders now and good luck to em I say. Brilliant performances against the Bears and the Jets.

I'm a Bears fan, but we're a plastic 9-4 team. Two dubious split decisions against the Lions, the Boys and Packers self-destructed, and we only stumbled past the Bills. We basically have one good win, against the Eagles. When we ran into half decent sides, like the Giants and the Pats, we got totally blown out. We might creep into the playoffs as Aaron Rodgers is suspect right now, but we'll take a pants-on ****ing in January.

Think the Bears have a decent defence and Hester with punt/kick off returns is a class apart but their offence is weak and so the others have to be on top form week in and out for the Bears to succeed.
They did it a couple of years ago and Cutler is a far better QB than Grossman. The way things they may get a bye in the first week of the playoffs with the West being so weak.Quit your jibber jabber!!!
Jermaine, you know the song Billie Jean...is it about the tennis player??

Defense and special teams will always be our bread and butter. They don't win Superbowls though. You need something going forward, and I don't trust Cutler. It's not all his fault, he doesn't have a massive selection of weapons around him and Martz's schemes don't always offer sufficient protection. We win when we run the ball because Cutler isn't able to move the ball in increments. Sometimes it's the big play or nothing with him, and we are shocking on third downs. Hester is obviously a nuclear weapon (and congrats to him on the record last night) but he detonated on Indy four years ago and had no back up to follow through.
Four years ago we had home field advantage and played two teams who had lost 13 games between them in the playoffs. The NFC was ****e that year. We were the only team who won more than ten times, and the rest of the NFC North was .500 or less. We were the best of a complete shambles.
We'll get home field advantage this year but probably won't get the bye. Philly have two home games against the Vikes and Cowboys. We have the Jets at home at then go to Lambeau. Would expect the Eagles to be seeded second behind the Falcons when all is said and done, although we do have the tie-breaker.
Being third means travelling on the road to Philly in the Divisional weekend. I don't see lightning striking twice. Even if it does, we then have the Falcons in the Championship game in all likelihood. You really think we're going to beat Matty Ice in the dome? He's 19-1 in Atlanta as a starter (and will probably be 22-1 by the time we get there). Their defense looks suspect on paper, and they give up yards in the air, but they're solid against the rush and defend the red zone well.
Our record far exceeds our abilities right now. The Patriots and the Giants carved us apart. The Packers and the Eagles are the only teams we have beaten who have winning records, and both of those games were at Soldier Field.
Hell, I'd love it to happen, but there are some really strong teams in the league this year. And we're not one of the top four.

The Bears offer no threat what so ever in the playoffs. Very oridinary team playing slightly above themselves. The defense is good and not great, Cutler is good and not great and the offensive line is mediocre at best.
The NFC top 4 - the Saints, Falcons, Eagles and Giants are way ahead of the pack in that division.

They know how to do it, if you ever get the option to go to a tailgate party do it!Originally posted by paulg View PostOld thread bump.
I now have ESPN America and am getting pretty into college football. Love how Americans make a day out of their sports, I'm whiling away a lazy saturday with it on the box.

That's what struck me, some of the tailgate areas were wicked. BBQs running off the back of a truck, marquee to keep sun / rain off and plasma tvs showing the games. I love how they went all the way to the ground, knowing they wouldn't get in but solely to have a great time and join in the atmosphere.

Agreed - It's the atmosphere that's amazing to be in! When the NFL comes to Wembley there's a free one in the car park which is always pretty good! Cheerleaders galore etc!Originally posted by paulg View PostThat's what struck me, some of the tailgate areas were wicked. Really? It would be worth going just for that.Originally posted by Carras_Shin_Pads View PostAgreed - It's the atmosphere that's amazing to be in! When the NFL comes to Wembley there's a free one in the car park which is always pretty good! Cheerleaders galore etc!
Unfortunately, I don't have Sky anymore so can't see NFL games. College and Canadian is what I'm seeing. It's great for having on in the background, whiling away a day. Love it.
