Wasn't expecting much to happen today...how I was wrong!

Schleck brothers losing plenty of time, as did Basso.

Great to see Thor win again. What a champion.
    On the Ning Nang Nong
    Where the Cows go Bong!
And the Monkeys all say Boo!
    There's a Nong Nang Ning
    Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots Jibber Jabber Joo.
    On the Nong Ning Nang
    All the mice go Clang!
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
    So it's Ning Nang Nong!
    Cows go Bong!
    Nong Nang Ning!
    Trees go Ping!
    Nong Ning Nang!
    The mice go clang!
What a noisy place to belong,
Is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

This is such a good Tour.

And Thor (but I made that joke before). I thought Boasson Hagen was looking good but either he didn't quite have enough left or he messed up his tactics and left it too late.

Great work from Contador and Evans. And Voeckler too, although today looked like a taste of things to come for him.

The Schlecks only have one trick - climbing long mountains fast at a fairly consistent pace. They can't descend, they can't time trial, and it seems they can't even sprint uphill like pure climbers. Still, the Alps are their favoured terrain - they're much better suited to very long climbs than the steeper, short ones of the Pyrenees. Even so, more than a minute - they're f*cked.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Really, did you expect him to win with 2 garmin riders against him?

No, of course it was always going to be very difficult but I thought he looked he strong. But allowing Hushovd to get the jump on him that close to the line left him no chance.

On the highlights yesterday it seemed like the Schlecks suddenly teleported on to Contador's back wheel right at the end. How did this look in real time?
                    3rd place. Worst champions ever.

They appeared out of nowhere in the last 200m, exactly like it looked on the highlights. A bit of a boo-boo by the TV director.

Andy Schleck's moaning about danger is understandable to an extent but the descent on which Wouter Weylandt died wasn't particularly dangerous. I think it also though reveals a rider who is unwilling to take risks, which is his weakness going uphill as well as down.

He needs to attack and that means taking a chance. I'm sure he'll try today but it all seems too late.

At least Contador has been giving it a go.

Who do you think will win it? I think Evans might sneak in this year, Contador has a lot to make up this year, 3 mins and a bit might be too much.

They're the most likely I think. Sanchez and the Schlecks have no great record as time triallists so I can't see them doing it. I can't see Evans blowing up so surely someone's going to have go before the final climb today or tomorrow. And that will doom Voeckler, although I can't see him holding off Evans (and others too) anyway.

I'm taking two days off work to watch it.
