WTF is that all about, 'bombsquaaad'. He tried to intimidate but it just did not work. Never knew he had a suspect chin, should be an interesting fight this, worth staying up for.

Don't think Wilder has a suspect chin, but I do think that Stiverne has the far better chin of the two. Wilder for me is pretty average in that department but not lacking.

Stiverne also trumps Wilder, and as always imo, mentally. Getting under his skin rarely seems to fluster him and if anything it tends to make him even more determined. Wilder on the other hand gets flustered and tends to throw punches the same way when in that state. The trick for Stiverne will be to try and get Wilder into that frame of mine just before the bell rings for the first time.

Wilder has been flustered by lesser fighters than Stiverne, but none of those had anything to throw back that could worry Wilder in the ring.

But as said earlier in the thread, that wild right that Wilder throws a number of times a fight could be key. Stiverne throws a peach of a left hook and it is exactly the kind of shot that is needed when Wilder throws that loose (but heavy hitting) right that leaves him so open.

Although the list of pasts fights for both men is less than steller, Stiverne has the better names on his record, and has been testing himself against better fighters than what Wilder has faced to date. Wilder's best win to date was probably against Malik Scott, and Scott is feather fisted by heavyweight standards. But taking him out early was impressive as Scott is ring savvy and usually good at not getting hit clean.

My thoughts on the fight have not changed though. Wilder should win, physically he has nearly all the tools to ensure that outcome, but that left hook (not to mention the right that often gets thrown straight after the hook lands) is tailor made to exploit that throwing flaw of Wilder's.

Stiverne was really **** at cutting the ring off in that fight and it cost him. Fair play to Wilder for executing well. Heavyweight boxing is so boring... trying to pass that off as an exciting fight is laughable, and the fall back 'one punch can change things in this division' as if that doesn't happen in every weight class.

Also, I know it's an accomplishment, but Wilder and his team going on with the Ali quotes 'we shook the world', 'who said I can't go 12 rounds, who said i can't box?', 'I'm still pretty' etc etc. He beat Bermane Stiverne, somewhere between a journeymen and a gatekeeper with the only notable wins on his record really coming against a decent, but not great Chris Arreola and an over 40 year old Ray Austin whom isn't that good regardless. They were going on like they belted out Rocky Marciano in his prime.

Regardless, as everyone knows, he may have a belt, but Wlad is the champ. Wilder knows that deep down, and I don't think a bout between those two will end favourably for him.

Stiverne was very flat footed last night and his head movement was like that of a statue. For a guy who has been very collected and almost tactical in the past he seemed to let the moment get to him last night.

Totally agree about the hyperbole that was flying around after the fight. The talk from the ringside experts, from Wilder and from his camp was well OTT.

Think the fact that America has it's first champion in about ten years is what is behind Wilder being proclaimed as the second coming of Ali, Foreman, Tyson, and Holmes all rolled into one person.

As for Wlad. He would school Wilder, and for that very reason I can see Wilder's handlers not letting him into the same ring as Wlad should the chance for that bout arise. I think Wilder and his camp may go after Tyson Fury as suggested by their comments in the build up to last night's bout.

Fury v Wilder will be like 2 drunk blokes randomly swinging at each other after the pubs have kicked out.

And just imagine what the various press conferences would be like. Neither are exactly shy when it comes to spouting absolute bollocks talking themselves up.

Apparently Cotto vs Canelo is off.

Suggestions are that Cotto vs Mayweather is close to being done.

Carl Froch: Super-middleweight champion suffers elbow injury

Britain's Carl Froch has injured an elbow in training and been forced to abandon plans to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Las Vegas in March.
The WBA and IBF super-middleweight champion, 37, says he hopes to return to the ring in the summer.
"I'm disappointed to have to let this opportunity go but at this stage in my career I have to make every fight count," said Nottingham's Froch.
Froch last fought in May, when he stopped George Groves at Wembley.
"We have been deep in negotiations for some time and we were almost ready to go," said promoter Eddie Hearn.
"Carl has gone into fights before not 100% fit and paid the price and he has made the right decision to hang fire.
"We will have a meeting early next week and plan out 2015. I'm confident we will see him back in the ring this summer."
Froch plans to make a further announcement next week.
Froch sparked talk of retirement on Sunday, when he posted a photo of a pair of boxing gloves on social media.
Mexican Chavez, 28, is a former WBC middleweight champion and son of legendary fighter Julio Cesar Chavez.
Froch, nicknamed the Cobra, has lost just two of his 35 fights, with 24 of his 33 wins coming by way of knockou

Wouldn't have minded seeing Froch vs Chavez Jr batter each other sensless.

If he's not going to get his Vegas fight then i see him cashing out with another fight at Wembley. Probably against Degale
