You have a differing opinion and are well able to articulate the points you want to make. I actually enjoy reading your posts as they force me to come out and say why I disagree with you. So debate those that disagree with you or just ignore them, but don't have it turn into a spat because there are not enough interesting posters in this thread that give a toss about the sport that we can start getting into little jibe tossing sessions and then all end up ignoring one another.

If this "new approach" he's supposed to have is actually real, he should be able to take Garcia with ease. As for Peterson, surely SURELY he'd want to get back in with him if he was a cheat and was doped, but no... Its weird. I like Khan, love watching him fight, his speed and accuracy is awesome, but the main reason he is so great to watch is that it can all turn in the blink of an eye with his inability to take a decent punch.

Khan should be very exciting to watch pretty much all the time, and he has, I think, the talent to turn that on against almost anyone in his division.

He should go after both Garcia and Peterson. Garcia has improved since he stopped Khan in 2010 but so has Khan and Khan is the one with more experience of fighting in the heavier division. Would be a risk for Khan to go after Garcia but it would be a win, if he got it, that could expunge a few mental demons. As said in my longer post this would be a 50/50 fight for me or maybe 60/40 in Khan's favour.


Not going after Peterson baffles me. Peterson is fairly light fisted and Khan has improved since they last fought. The same revenge angle could be played up as with Garcia, and it could actually be a money fight because of that. Khan stops Peterson this time around imo.

Yup, good post. The real annoyance with Khan is frustration, he's talented but he's just not done enough with it at the levels he could and when he has he's lost.

The Algeiri fight will do nothing to enhance his reputation and just helps back up the impression he's avoiding fights in the hope of the big pay day vs Mayweather which in some ways you can't blame him for but surely the best way to get that fight is by beating big names and making him want to take the fight to enhance his legacy which for all the money involved with his fights seems to be a major driving force.

Anthony Joshua returns to action in Newcastle on Saturday night with praise from world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko ringing in his ears.
Klitschko believes “the future of the division belongs to Joshua”, who returns from a stress fracture of his back for his 11th professional contest against 37-year-old journeyman Jason Galvern, in what is effectively a tune-up for a fight with former world title challenger Kevin Johnson.

There could be no greater endorsement from the heavyweight division’s dominant 10-year ruler for Joshua, whose unblemished record reads 10 fights, 10 knockouts, after his Olympic gold medal success 2½ years ago in London.

Klitschko had a close-up look at Joshua when the two had 20 rounds of sparring together last summer. The Ukrainian, unbeaten as the world champion for nine years, with 18 successive title defences, was impressed with his skills and attitude.

He said: “I haven’t seen an athlete as athletic, as big, as fast, as talented as Anthony and if he’s going to continue the way he is, developing himself, the future belongs to him.”

Galvern has also sparred with the British tyro in the past, and rates Joshua as “in the top three fighters I’ve ever been in with”.

Joshua himself insisted this week that his injury lay-off which forced him out of his January bout with Johnson, had made him even hungrier for success.

Joshua had wanted to capitalise on his rapid progress last year following another brutal win over Michael Sprott in Liverpool in November, but the 25-year-old says he will be back and better than ever in the North East.

Johnson has on his resumé a 12-round fight with Vitali Klitschko, Wladimir’s brother. It was to be an important yardstick in Joshua’s burgeoning career.
But the 6ft 7in great British hope has realised during rehab that there will be bumps along the road.

“I was on a roll and there was great momentum, but I think I can pick that up again,” said Joshua. “I wanted to fight but people were telling me not to and, of course, they were right. It will be great to fight in another massive city in the UK.”

Had the stress fracture not been treated, it could have even turned into a chronic injury. “You have to have great rehabilitation with an injury like that, with the best physios, doctors and medical advice you can get. I was able to tick over in an altitude centre and swimming for my core to make sure I didn’t get too heavy. I got back in the gym ahead of schedule but an injury that could have been a chronic one has been solved by eight weeks of rest.

“My route is set up and it’s simple. I have been through my hard road and now the path is pretty clear. The pressure to be great, saying I can be the next this and that, or saying that I can’t, it’s just fuel to my fire,” added Joshua.

Joshua’s clash with Galvern is part of a night of action in Newcastle where South Shield’s Anthony Nelson faces Dundee’s Jamie Wilson for the vacant Commonwealth super flyweight title, and local favourite Jon-Lewis Dickinson challenges Stephen Simmons for the Scotsman’s World Boxing Council International Silver cruiserweight title.

Think Khan knows he's picked the wrong fight as you say from the media backlash,i think he should go for the Kelly Brook fight but if he has a change of opponent now then he'll pick Broner,i feel if he loses to Brook it will be too big a loss for him and will loose credibility state side.Khans just biding his time and staying away from big fights until he can meet either Pacquiao or Mayweather

He has been having the piss taken out of him in America over his choice of opponent and words like "Protected", "Avoiding" "Overrated" "No surprise" are being used.


One commentator came out with a comments about how Khan has been talking about beating the best guys for more than half a decade but has managed to avoid stepping into to the ring with any of them during that time.


Am sure there will be a bit of a media campaign by Khan's people to ensure that some Khan friendly mouth pieces try to talk him up on air, but it does appear that him going after yet another low risk and light hitting opponent (not to mention the fact it is another opponent who normally competes in the division below Khan) has done a bit of damage to his US reputation.

Yep, even he looked embarrassed. And Hearn pretty much admitted he only got Gavern over because he's a "character" rather than actually being any sort of good work out.

This was tweeted by Tim Bradley about Khan. Khan has denied this but also now said his next opponent isn't confirmed even though he's come out and announced who his next opponent was himself.

• The IBF ordered a final welterweight eliminator to produce the mandatory challenger for Kell Brook between Timothy Bradley Jr. and Amir Khan. However, according to the IBF, Khan declined to participate. Instead, Khan appears headed to a May 30 bout against former titleholder Chris Algieri. Khan could have had a June 13 shot at Brook without fighting the eliminator, but he also declined that bout, a huge fight in their home country of England. Since Khan declined, the next ranked fighter who will be offered the opportunity to face Bradley in the eliminator is Frankie Gavin, Khan's countryman.
