I reckon we could! I've got an ultra next Saturday which is around 50k so need to squeeze a few in the week to get mine near 200km - be my most in a long time!

    Good work,

Only just noticed this thread - I just did 18.9k in 1:59:07 - hoping to do half marathon in a month. I'm over 50 and started running 5 yrs ago - have done 4 marathons and 3 half marathons ... PB for the mara is 4:24 and half is 2:03

My legs are feeling pretty stiff at the moment but I don't feel as knackered as I expected. Just come back from a 2hr walk which involved too much hill for my liking, which may not have helped. (Baitman) I'm walking like a man who's just had 2 hrs with Dr Zaf (Baitman)

Glad to have got 10 miles chalked up. Hoping to do another on Tuesday.

                    Hey guys,

I've not done any running whatsoever for probably a good month or so now, if not longer since picking up a painful achilles tendon injury.

I had planned on doing a half marathon in November but I don't believe I have enough time between then and now to prepare properly, the marathon is on November 23rd. I'm off this week so was going to start running again but bearing in mind before I got injured I was struggling to run 4-5 miles without having to stop.

Do you guys think it's going to be difficult for me to get myself up to speed and start covering longer distances to enable to me to still do the half marathon or should I sack it off?

I just feel totally done in and deflated at the moment, got no energy or desire to do any fitness. I think I will find it hard to get back into it if I'm being honest.

You don't need long to train for a half. Just make sure you recover from your injury first and build the distance slowly.

                        Cheers mate,

I will just do some short runs this week and build myself up.

My feet muscles especially my tendon feel really weak generally, they're painful when I wake up which is a concern long term.

I'll see how it goes, hopefully I can still do it. Just don't want to be one of those divs that doesn't complete it. Guess I still have a good three months to prepare in a way.

Painful in morning? Is the sole of your foot near your heel? If so sounds more like plantar fasciitis. Which is a ****er. If I were you I'd wear well cushioned shoes all the time and give it plenty of time to heal properly before running at all. Or, you know, you could get it checked out by a professional before assuming I'm right

It's not really the sole that hurts it's more the ankle, tendon areas that seize up and 'crack' when I first get out of bed, suffering with really bad pain in my joints full stop at the moment.

Been tested for arthritis and osteoporosis on numerous occasions including recently and all the blood tests come back as negative each time which is a good thing. In terms of inflammation they're only showing as 1 out of 5 on the blood tests so not sure what the **** is causing my pains but I'm agony nearly all of the time.

Ah, ok. Sounds like a ****er whatever it is. Go back to the GP and say it's affecting your quality of life as you can't run any more. Might get a bit more progress in terms of finding out what's wrong.

Plantar fasciitis is the biggest ****er ever. Managed to shake my last lot off with a combo of insoles and a strassburg sock but it still kicks occasionally. To be honest I think when full blown it may be even worse than being decapitated.
