How old is he now 18/19? I think this year could be key for his development -same too for a number of the other youngsters who have been around for a while. We need to either start giving them first team experience (Carling Cup, Europa League, Time from the bench) or we need to send them out on loan for a while. Playing reserve team football again won't help. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The NextGen competition will continue to give the young players fantastic experience. It will also make them realise the level they need to aspire to in order to make the step up. Putting them into the first team when they're not ready is risky and like someone pointed out earlier in this thread we're never in a situation where we're convincingly ahead in a game which would allow an inexperienced player some game time.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostWe need to either start giving them first team experience (Carling Cup, Europa League, Time from the bench) or we need to send them out on loan for a while. I do think that there is an unrealistic expectation that a few of this current crop of youngsters will force their way into the first team over the next season or two. From what I've seen it's very unlikely.

Well its kind of already happened (Sterling, Flanagan, Robinson). Sterling showed in tiny glimpses that he can be a threat. He would be a useful addition on the bench. Robinson looked calm and composed every time we saw him. Flanagan has had a few mares but he has had some good games too. I don't get this idea that the youngsters aren't good enough yet. Whenever they have been put in they have rarely let us down. In fact, Spearing has let us down the most out of all of them and he is the oldest.

He has also played the most.
So that makes me wonder (a) why has he played the most if he is the worst and (b) would the others have "let us down" more if they had played more..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Cheers for the vid though Mostar.
Cheers ladsOriginally posted by Lee View PostExcellent, cheers Mostar.
He played well but not like against Portugal and/or Greece.
Primary reason coz Estonia wasn't even close. Would love to know stats from that match but to me it looked like Spain has 90% of possession or more.
He was subbed after 70 minutes as he was spared for the semis.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club
