I think seeing us play some young players consistently in cups and for cameo appearances would be a good start. We've been doing okay in recent years with defenders but creative/attacking players seem to have hardly got a look in.

This is where I think Rodgers will be slightly more accommodating. He is more interested in the technical side of the game and I think the likes of Suso and Sterling will compliment his vision of football. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the other type of youngster like Flanagan.

I try not to get too overly excited about young talent coming through but this lad does look special.

I hope he can continue the development he's been showing and really push to get some first team games in the cups and maybe some sub appearances later in the season in the league.

Contrast with Joe Cole who yet again looked like he'd never played the game. How did he do so well at Lille? He's abysmal.

Trying to keep a lid on my excitement about Suso but we've got to tie him down on a longer a deal. Him & Sterling are our best prospects for years.

It was only a pre-season friendly against a fairly weak team, he played well and looked promising but I think people are going a little over the top. The Premiership is a number of levels above that so will be a totally different challenge.

Of course, but he's standing out in a team with proven premiership players in it. Plenty of cause for optimism. Looks absolute class
