We're desperate for a goal scorer or two this coming window, of that I am in no doubt at all.

Playing Suso/Sterling isn't bad for them but week in week out in a side that is struggling to win games isn't going to be great long term for them - the experience they're getting at PL level is great but we as a side need to start winning and we need better players to come in to allow them the rest that they need as they're performances will naturally be on occasions inconsistent (both I think are going to be excellent for us btw)

but for who at the moment ?

The squad is threadbare and in all likelyhood they offer more than what we've currently got to replace them with

Aye. I'm beginning to think Rodgers biggest mistake thus far has been prioritising Borini over Dempsey. It wouldn't have been the solution to all our problems but I think it would have helped take some pressure off.

I don't think Rodgers anticipated Suso and Sterling becoming regulars therefore a wide striker was a must as well as an attacking midfielder. He did try for Sigurdsson and then got screwed on the Dempsey (non)deal, not his fault really.

tbh they offer very little and makes your comment The squad is threadbare even more depressing
i agree but it makes jan transfers even more important for br and the club .....imo players like allen, suso, borini seem to light weight we need so muscle in midfield to compliment the finese of allen and lucas jut imagine fellaini in our midfield or mascherano, the closest we have to them is shelvey who imo should be starting prem games.and yesterday instead of downing coming on assiadi should have

I think he has to share some blame. Why so few options? Why prioritise the signings we made over others? Why not loan out Carroll earlier when the West Ham deal was supposed to be offered (I know this is possibly out of his hands but the information in the press suggests otherwise, so it is at least questionable)?

There were other issues I accept but his priority signings were Allen and Borini. Neither of which have either a/ allowed us to adapt to his style instantly or b/ rectified the goalscoring and midfield defense issues that were there before. I like both players but I'm not sure that they + Assaidi represented the best use of those funds at the time.

I think Allen was a good infact a very good purchase but yet again with no real back up for Lucas his potential worth to the side hasn't as of yet been realised.

Borini was a strange one really, he has the potential to be a good long term signing for us but it probably wasn't the best use of the money we had at the time especially when you see seasoned pro's such as a Maxi and Kuyt leaving the squad, we really needed to bring in someone to help chip in with some goals and sadly (although he's injured now) Borini hasn't done as of yet.

I think Allen is an excellent player (I also like Borini as it goes). My issue is more with the mix of transfers. I know that Rodgers isn't the sole person to blame but we need to address the glaring issues in January.

I think we both agree really.

Good signings and I would have taken Allen regardless but whilst I do like Borini he probably wasn't the right signing at the time based on what we needed - goals!

I think Rodgers expected Borini to slot in pretty much straight away. Long term I think Borini can be a success but the manager gambled and it came up short.

The one player who we've really badly missed this season is Kuyt. He could have really made a difference playing in the wide right role. Composure, goals, and workrate.

I'd agree with all of that Rich.

Dirk's experience alone would have been a massive benefit but along with the other attributes you've listed he's a massive loss

You could add Bellamy to that and Maxi.

Out of the 6 top scorers we had last season only 2 are currently still at the club (Suarez and Gerrard).

                              Painfully short of attacking options.

F*ck me, you’re not a fan are you Bender?

I don’t think Suso did much wrong yesterday, played quite well IMO. I don’t think he has any problem playing in the wide forward position, but he needs a better full back than Wisdom supporting him. A lot of Suso’s passes you’ll notice went across the park yesterday as realistically there wasn’t much threat down the right wing. Johnson would have created more space for Suso by occupying defenders and would have been a lot more threatening receiving his passes. If by chance we see Johnson back at RB for Chelsea, then I’d happily see Suso playing ahead of him.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
