If that's not the case why not just sell him now and be done rather than loan him out for 12 months, which coincidentally is the same period of time Valdes has left at barca? Are you telling me there is zero interest in the current Spanish number 2 anywhere at a bargain price of £8m?Originally posted by Kenneth View PostAlthough we don't know that

That's certainly the best reason, but the west ham loan of Carroll worked out pretty well really. Got a £90k a week player off our bench and lead to a sale.Originally posted by TheElephantMan View PostWe should only loan out players when there's a tangible benefit for ourselves. Young players going out on loan to gain experience makes sense because they could return as better footballers. Reina going on loan doesn't make any sense, if he wants to leave then he should be sold.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

No need for Brendan to give us an explanation on this loan move... I've written it by purely copying last summers tumbleweed about Andy Carroll
Brendan Rodgers has explained Liverpool's decision to send Pepe Reina on loan to Napoli.
The goalkeeper tonight secured a season-long switch to Napoli..
And Rodgers believes that the loan move to Napoli was in the player's best interest with opportunities to command the line at Anfield increasingly limited for him.."and it being world cup year"
He said: "When I came in I spoke with all the players [and] made them aware of where they stood within the group.
"Pepe made it very clear to me - and I believe it's been difficult for him in his period here - he hasn't played anywhere near as regular as he wanted to and he wanted this to be a season where he was going to be playing regular.
"I couldn't guarantee that and getting later in the window, it still wasn't the case so him and I spoke. He wants to play and unfortunately for us at this moment in time, we're not really in a position to have a £6 million player maybe not playing regular.
"The club made a monumental investment in Pepe but it's no good him being on the bench - but at this moment in time there's others ahead of him - so he's got the chance to go and play and demonstrate his qualities.
"Hopefully it allows us to move on and we'll assess it over the course of the season."
Rodgers also refuted suggestions of animosity existing between himself, Reina and the club due to the the goalkeepers lucrative price tag weighing heavily over the previous 18 months.
"There was no problem between Pepe I or Liverpool," he insisted.
"The club invested a hell of a lot of money and it wasn't his fault or his problem but that's the reality where it's at.
"We've had one or two enquiries over the course of the summer and he's taken that chance now to go and play and hopefully show the investment that the club have put in, when he's playing regular that he can get goals."

We do not know the full details of the deal. My guess is we received no loan fee and in return we do not subsidise his wages. Not having a go mate. Just smell a rat hereOriginally posted by cream View PostWe'll get a loan fee then sell him next summer, meanwhile they pay his wages. Don't see what the problem is.
