well he was considered one of the best and now hes average, so clearly hes playing rubbish to recieve a lower status ?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHe hasnt been 'rubbish'
You even reverted back to 'average' in your previous post, so i await then next one where he'll have been 'good'

Reina lets in plenty of goals that are saveable. thats not to say he's at fault for them, but you'd expect him to get closer more often at the very least. still a good allrounder mind. hopefully he can pick up the form of 3 or 4 years ago.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Not too sure about that. Their are a lot of keepers that have upped their game against us this season which maybe gives a false perception about how good they are.Originally posted by danperkins View Post
If Pepe goes which nobody would begrudge him, there are alot of quality keepers around. IMO it's not a position that is short of potential targets.
I think their are a few good keepers around but not many great ones. If their were so many great keepers Spurs wouldn't have signed a 40 year old Friedel to replace Gomes and Arsenal haven't been able to settle on a keeper they are happy with for years.

Bar VDS, who was about 35 at the time, United still haven't replaced Schmeichel either, so just goes to show how hard it actually is to find a good keeper capable for playing for a top team.Originally posted by topscorer View PostNot too sure about that. Would be crazy to even consider selling Reina, unless of course he forced the issue. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I’ll not roll out the ‘class is permanent’ cliché, but we do know Pepe is a world class keeper not playing to his potential for whatever reason.Originally posted by Kinell View PostHis mobility between the sticks seems to have decreased same with a lot of his willingness to throw himself threw the air or at times even to go to ground to stop a shot. Average sums him up very well at the moment compared to his efforts in previous seasons.
We can go out and spend millions on any keeper in the world and we might be lucky if they even perform ‘averagely’, nevermind to Pepe's previous standard?
Cech looked done for a few years there, but if it wasn’t for him then I doubt Chelsea would be in the CL final now.
There is a lot of talk on here ATM about our worst ever transfers, but if we did get rid of Pepe and expected a club in our position to improve on him, then that would definitely be up there for me.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The entire team is bereft of confidence, him included, 9 times out of 10 he would save those goals, thats not to say when a keeper is left 1 on 1 with a attacker he should save. But we are a nervous club these days and it makes our opponents play better and makes us secoind guess our own abilities and thats the real problem at LFC right nowOriginally posted by Eric Swindler View PostI wouldn't want to replace him, but like many, he's had an indifferent season.Anybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Reina claims there is 'no doubt' Liverpool have improved this season
The Reds goalkeeper insists that most people would have been happy to take cup success at the start of the season despite his side's disappointing showing in the Premier League.
Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina insists his side have improved, claiming most people "would have taken" success in cup competitions at the expense of Premier League form at the start of the season.
The Reds beat Cardiff City on penalties to win the League Cup in February and will contest the FA Cup final with Chelsea in May.
However, they have struggled in the league and currently sit two points short of Merseyside rivals Everton, who occupy seventh spot.
"There's no doubt we've improved from last season already," Reina told LFC Weekly.
"We've won the League Cup with the possibility of a second while also qualifying for Europe. The target of the club is still to get back in the Champions League.

"But before the start of the season, if someone had said we'd win the League Cup, reach the final of the FA Cup, as well as getting seventh, probably most people would have taken that."
Reina claimed the importance of the League Cup should not be underestimated, especially as Liverpool had to eliminate some of the country's top sides on the way to the final.
"It's always good to go back to winning days," Reina said of the cup win.
"Some people might say the Carling Cup is not that important but, at the end of the day, it's a trophy. We knocked out Stoke, Chelsea and Manchester City.
"It was not easy. So it was a well-deserved success and I was pleased to be part of it."
The goalkeeper missed the FA Cup semi-final against Everton after being sent off against Newcastle United in the Premier League and admitted he had given backup shot-stoppers Alexander Doni and Brad Jones a chance to stake their claim for a place in the side.
"This has been probably the most difficult period of my Liverpool career," Reina revealed.
"They are breathing down my neck so I have to be up for it and do my best."
