The more I see it the worse it gets absolutely no need for him to go anywhere near it.

what would stegen cost and would he come to England/LFC.

He probably means with respect to other goalkeepers. Strikers are in their prime at 26, 27, whereas keepers are in their supposed prime in their early 30s. So by that definition, Reina is still relatively young, just entering his prime (although you wouldn't think so with him, given the enormous spike in the number of errors he makes in relation to two years ago and beyond).

With all due respect Reina should have ironed out any errors on his game a long time ago now is not the time to be making errors although as you say in goalkeeping terms he still has a way to go I would not say he is very young far from it, I think he has lost focus he edge and needs a new challenge

Unfortuntely his movement and general grey matter is ageing fast. He's one of the few specimens whose future seems to be behind him.

Mistake from Pepe for sure, but that's some finish from Aguero.

                    What a f*ck up today.

All the same, Reina's likely to get back to a higher level, if not back to his very best. And if he does improve between now and May, then whoever anyone might like to bring in is going to have to be some keeper. And even if they are, it's still a risk.
                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

But I'm teetering on the brink of wanting to sell him now. Too many ****ing mistakes. When will it end? I love the guy and he's a great influence in the dressing room....but I just don't know anymore. £15m would be tempting.
Its a really tough one. At what point does a dip become a permanent slump?

I'm not convinced we'd get £15m for him right now. If someone did offer that I think it would be more than tempting actually.

Wow. That's pretty worrying. I doubt he made that many errors leading to goals in his previous 5 seasons combined.

Not really, he's in him prime as a keeper right now but has been in pretty poor form for a good year or two. I'd love you to be right Nigel but at what point do we draw the line? At what point do we say sentimentality and past performance are less relevant than him actually costing us points in the here & now?

I agree not sure anyone would pay £15m at the moment.

Id be very careful before deciding to write off Pepe Reina.

I have always been a massive fan of his and although he's not at his top level it would also be very difficult to replace him. He is a massive figure at the club and an important part of the dressing room. I do believe he can get back to his very best and I still have faith that he will.

A successful premier league keeper is very hard to come by and replacing him would not be easy. Just look at how many keepers Fergie goes through or how crap Wenger is at signing goalies. Us and Chelsea got lucky when we signed our pair.

I would not risk signing a keeper from the continent if we did choose to replace him, far too much of a risk. Premier league is much more physical and brutal for keepers than other leagues. I would only replace Pepe if we could sign a proven top class keeper from within England. For me that narrows it down to two choices-

Michel Vorm and Asmir Begovic. Both are gettable but would be costly. I would prefer to get behind Pepe and hope he comes back strong for the rest of the season

It was a really bad mistake from Pepe but to put things in perspective, Hart did something very similar in the opening minutes when Sturridge was through - the difference was that Zabaletta made an important block when Sturridge shot on goal.

Aggers starting position on the left was wrong and he was probably five yards too far up the pitch and another five too far over to his left. This creates the gap into which then ball was played. Skrtel looked second best against aguero even if it looked like it wasn't going anywhere and Reina made his call.

But he's done that hundreds of time for us and its been fine. On this occasion he got done and we paid the price.

if you buy a keeper who's comfortable coming off his line then these things can happen. I feel bad for him though.
