That might sound silly seeing as the media like to drone on about him being unfit, but if you look at him now compared to how he was at Newcastle he's definitely slimmer.

He's too slim though, he's become lightweight, and he now needs to build some muscle mass IMO. Being skinny makes him less of a player given his playing style.
    I think exactly the opposite

    He looks much much heavier

This is the first time I've seen anyone suggest any differently

I've lost count of the number of time he's fallen over just running in a straight line, and he seems to collapse so easily sometimes when he's challenged. He is also soooo slow to react to a deflected or misplaced ball even if it bounces just a few yards away from him.

All that strength he had at Newcastle just isn't there anymore. He really looks like something is physically hindering him. I wonder if the medical team under estimated the extent of his injury?

Sounds like a bit of an excuse for me

Shearer in a roundabout way was saying he's not trying hard enough.

I believe it's an mental/attitude problem with Carroll.

Kenny who's a good man manager can't seem to get a good performance out of him then the best thing is to put him out to new pastures.
        We come not to play.

I genuinely believe that all parties will be happier when he's back at Newcastle for a mutually acceptable fee. Can't see him playing for another PL team. He'll probably start scoring again back there with 50,000 Geordies delighted (well some of them anyway) to see him back with the number 9 on his back.

Some transfers don't work out, every single one is a gamble. He's come to the geordie equivalent of a foreign country, different culture, different language - it was bound to be a pressure on a young lad.

Seems perfectly feasible to me. If he's suffering a sudden loss of aggression or confidence then there has to be a cause. Such things are usually an indication of a problem, rather than being the problem itself.

A loss of confidence can explain missing chances, but not these apparent physical failings he's been struggling with since he came back from injury. I don't see how any work on increasing his body strength would cause this either.

So assuming his diet and lifestyle isn't the problem, I don't see what what else it could be. The guy is clearly struggling with some of the basics like running, staying on his feet, changing direction, etc, so something must be impeding him. A weakness in that thigh would seem a reasonable explanation to me.

Personally, I don't think he is fit, mentally of physically and is very home sick. Crouch is three times the player and would have cost 25m less.

                Spot on.

Not only that, he's a c**t outside football too. Nasty piece of work with a woeful 'professional' attitude to his career choice.

I tried even watching youtube compilations to see if there was anything remotely emerging in his skill set that could help me be patient. There is pretty much nothing. His whole £35m persona is built up on myth, Geordie and media obsession and general all round ignorance from people who rated him.

You could argue he has a good shot on him? Has he? Maybe powerful but loads of my crap footballing mates who get picked last at 5-a-side have good shots on them and put in more effort and basic skills than Carroll.

I hate the guy and can't wait to see the back of him.

Sadly, I'd like to see the back of Kenny too. I like him but he's not good enough. That line up yesterday was embarrassing. Home and Kuyt playing alone upfront. Effing disgrace.

I've had enough and won't stand for this mediocre sh*t that many fans seem happy with and a false optimism that has sat there for 20yrs that next season 'it might be better'.

Aside from that being an utterly laughable and cuntish post, this bit in particular especially tickled me...

Wont stand for it? What are you going to do? Vent on an internet forum? Write a strongly worded letter?

I bet somebody at Anfield is trembling now, that the random anonymous bloke on a web forum 'wont stand for it' anymore

Hate is such a strong word too, if he's not good enough then it's not his fault, Kenny came in and bought him for 35mill and paid him lots of money, what is he expected to do, say...'Nah Wey Kenah, am shuyt lad...dowant botha!'

Not to mention calling him a "c**t outside football" when he offers no proof whatsoever. What's he based that on?

We need to sell him now, hes too much of a liability and that temptation is there to play him because of the massive price tag. Kenny needs to accept he made a big mistake with Carroll. If not sell him, put him out on loan for a year or two.

What if Kenny sees him as part of the general long term building of a squad, and isn't panicking at all to get rid, and intends to bring in players to compliment both AC and Luis Suarez style going forward along with another Striker ?

Hard not to think of the here and now, but i believe Kenny is actually looking a lot further ahead for this club and feels there are no quick fixes.
