Don't agree with this at all. About the only similarity between them is their height. Crouch had much better feet but much less power. I'd say Andy could become a better striker, but Crouch was a better footballer. Really think that comparison is a bit off.

Let's not get carried away. He had a good game and got involved a lot more, as well as putting in the effort and displaying some technical qualities like winning a few headers, linking play up well.

His movement and desire to get into the box were still poor.

Credit where it's due, but as for a future here? Consistency is vital.
Totally agree. He was ok, some of his best all round play that I've seen so far but still not enough of a consistent goal threat. His runs and general intelligence around the box are not convincing. I'm sure he can work on that too, but I dunno, I still cry a little inside when I think of the fee.

What tale shall serve me here among

He might not be prolific or much of a goal threat but his hold up play is bringing others into the game and with Gerrard, Suarez and him on the pitch we are seeing us start to get more space and chances being put away. I want him to keep starting and I think he will get more on his side.

In league terms we have nothing to play for, we might as well see what he can do. I'd play him and Suarez together every game (where possible)
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

By the way any compilations of Andy Carroll in the Everton game? Would sure like to see his performance again. (Looking in Mostars direction )

Agreed. The fee. He's getting quite a good bit better and I like the lad, but I read/heard this the other day - can't remember where - and it rang very true; when, for example, he's coming off the bench...you don't get a big buzz of excitement thinking "Here comes our £35m attacker!" ...he's just big Andy who you really want to do well.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Imagine being Andy Carroll the day that deal went through. I'd be thinking holy **** why the hell have I just been signed for 35m??? I am simply not worth that amount. He'd look around at the other players who have gone for that kind of money and know in his heart that he wasn't at that calibre. Imagine the weight of pressure that has probably been on his shoulders.

I think the pressure is starting to lift now and we are seeing a different Andy Carroll. He doesn't have to worry so much about his price tag because he has built the sort of expectation that he will never quite match up to it. He looks determined. He is also starting to find a style of play that suits us and suits him. As long as the coaching staff and management are patient with him and he is allowed to improve his game in his own time then he has the potential to be a good player for us.

Ok, i've changed my mind then.

Couldn't give a **** if he makes a meaningful contribution to a team win (makes space for Suarez, Gerrard etc).

Shearer scored **** loads of goals for Newcastle but they won **** all.

It's got to be better than a £50m attacker that you wish would just **** off.

Those of you who think he's playing well, would you like to another top striker brought in during the summer?

And what gives, or do you think we can keep 3 stikers ie Suarez, Carroll and new guy ???
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Should be able to have 3 strikers+. Scum have Berbatoss on the bench most of the time.
                          3rd place. Worst champions ever.

A club that plays with 2 strikers should have a minimum of 4. Two top quality, one who can do a job, and another who is full of promise.

Remember when LFC were competing under Ged? We had Fowler, Owen, Heskey and I think Litmanen/Anelka at certain periods. What a forward line up that was.

When Man Utd won the treble, they had Cole, Yorke, Sheringham and Solskjaer. It's not rocket science.

The trick is getting players of quality who are happy to play a lesser role. A Gary Mac type role, or a Sheringham role for the Mancs.

A great scenario would be in the summer we brought in Cavani and Jordan Rhodes. I'd then say to the lot, no placecid guaranteed, fight with Carroll & Suarez for starting places.

Obviously Cavani is a bit of a stretch, but you get the meaning.
                            Forwards.......

We’ve lost 3 of our last 9 matches in all comps and Carroll started neither. Of the 6 he did start, we won 5 and drew 1.

No doubt a coincidence as much as anything but encouraging none the less.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Ah yes. Seeing his performance individually I thought he did better than that. He still had a good game though and showed lots of determination.
