Yeah, I really don't get the way its become common place for almost every ex-player to get booed by footy fans. If they're the likes of Diouf fair enough, or even if they left on a real sour note like Torres did with us, but its a bit distasteful imo in a situation like Carroll's @ Newcastle.Originally posted by Pepe79 View PostHe was most likely just ****ed off at his hometown fans booing his every touch. I couldn't understand why they gave him such harsh treatment, considering he never asked for the move.
Fwiw I was so frustrated with Carroll yesterday. If that was a dive it was awful, if it was a stumble its probably even worse. Plus that ridiculous attempt at a 1-2 with Suarez after about 10 mins, if he'd returned the ball normally Suarez would have been clean through, instead the ball was so overhit it went out towards the corner flag.
Right now I'm kinda praying Harry stays at Spurs and offers us £15m for him, can't see who else would take him off us and I really can't see it working for him at Anfield any more. Not going to give the guy abuse but he is going to go down as one of the biggest transfer bungles ever I think.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue

Only other 2 clubs imo that may show interest in him in summer may be Villa and Sunderland but I still think we will have hell of time off loading him cause wages will be a problem for most middle-table clubs.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostYeah, I really don't get the way its become common place for almost every ex-player to get booed by footy fans. Yup. I really struggle to see where he'd go, if he had cost us something just shy of £20m say I'd think there would be clubs like Stoke, Sunderland etc thinking of a cheeky £10m bid and dealing with the wages issue. But I honestly can't see many even contemplating it unless it was clear we were prepared to take such a huge loss.Originally posted by Mostar View PostOnly other 2 clubs imo that may show interest in him in summer may be Villa and Sunderland but I still think we will have hell of time off loading him cause wages will be a problem for most middle-table clubs.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Didn't deserve to be booed. He did well for Newcastle, helped get them back into the Championship. Helped to stabilize their team in the prem. **** fans to boo the guy when he never even wanted a move in the first place. I feel bad for Carroll as I genuinely think he is better than he is showing and it must hurt to be booed by the team that once used to sing your praises and by the hometown of where your from.

I'm not convinced he dives I think he may just lose his footing, his touch where he takes it around the keeper isn't very heavy, as his momentum takes him forward he almost leaves the ball behind. He kind of leaves his right leg there to get the ball, but hasn't got his left leg on the ground, so falls over. I think if he had waited until he got his left foot on the ground he wouldn't have been able to get the ball.
He got a real slagging on MOTD2 last nigh for it.
Incidentally how would you distinguish between a dive and someone just losing their balance in those sort of situations, Carroll doen't appeal for a penalty for that.Last edited by Exiled_red; 02-04-12, 07:39 AM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You can tell that's a dive mate. It's clear as day. He's not fighting to regain his balance, which he would be doing if it was genuine. He didn't appeal because he knew his dive hadn't worked, so he tried to save face. That's my take on it anywayOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostI'm not convinced he dives I think he may just lose his footing, his touch where he takes it around the keeper isn't very heavy, as his momentum takes him forward he almost leaves the ball behind. he drags his left foot to imply he's been touched by the keeper. Its not a stumble imo.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostYou can tell that's a dive mate. It's clear as day. Yup, you can see he expected to get the touch from Krul (who did well actually not to take him down) his whole movement was just waiting to go down and when there was no contact his shape was such that he was falling anyway.Originally posted by Kenneth View Posthe drags his left foot to imply he's been touched by the keeper. Imo a genuine goal scorer with the right mentality would have been looking for the goal there, nothing else, and would never have moved in such a way to go over there without being caught. Its harsh but he bottled it there and he did dive, no doubt at all for me.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
