I'd like to think, as Kenny said post-match, that he lost his footing and that is why he went down. The alternative does not bear thinking about. What worries me about this lad is he is totally lacking in a striker's instinct; going down in the box when it's easier to put the ball in an open net, walking away from an opponent's penalty box when we have the ball in their box and our man is getting to the bye-line and looking to put the ball across their goal etc etc. On a personal level I have nothing against the lad, but as a striker he is sorely lacking. Who would have thought we'd sell a past-his-peak, nowhere near to recapturing his old form for us Fernando Torres for £50m, buy a younger replacement with his whole career ahead of him, and still get the raw end of the deal? I'd sell the lad at the first available opportunity. We don't play to his strengths and I don't think he's up to it in any event. Time to rip up the game plan and start from scratch.

He dived and was poor at it as well.

the annoying thing about yesterday was he was our best player IMO up untill the dive. after that his game went to ****. storming off down the tunnel is bang out of order even if he was upset. show some balls and stick it out on the bench and support your team.

and if rumours are true of a foul mouthed f-word rant at dalglish for subbing him then i would fine and discipline him foir that.

we all want it to work for andyu with us but i cant see it . . . . . summer time comes we should take a hit and sell.

He kind of leaves his right leg there to get the ball, but hasn't got his left leg on the ground, so falls over. I think if he had waited until he got his left foot on the ground he wouldn't have been able to get the ball.

He got a real slagging on MOTD2 last nigh for it.

Incidentally how would you distinguish between a dive and someone just losing their balance in those sort of situations, Carroll doen't appeal for a penalty for that.
To me it was a clear dive as he was running pretty much in the straight line and even though his balance is terrible in general I don't think he lost it there at all.

Personally I think he fully expected the contact with Krul (which never came) so he dove.

He was looking for the penalty kick and it is shame as he is a striker and first and foremost the only thing on his mind should have been to score.

Imo a genuine goal scorer with the right mentality would have been looking for the goal there, nothing else, and would never have moved in such a way to go over there without being caught. Its harsh but he bottled it there and he did dive, no doubt at all for me.

I reckon he tripped, he's not clever enough to dive and try to claim a penalty.

It was a dive, if you lose your footing you don't fall like a Jurgen Klinsmann goal celebration.
                We come not to play.

There is a player in their somewhere. I think a new manager with a different approach will get more out of him next season. No point selling him at a big loss

It's irrelevant what he does for other clubs, it's what he does here is all we should be concerned about.

I think he'd score goals, if he played for a team like Villa or Sunderland.

I can't see him being a success at any of the big boys, and i don't think any of the top 5 would take a punt on him either - that includes Spurs, why buy him when Adebayor is twice the player?
                              We come not to play.

Then their coaching is better than ours. If he could score goals for Villa & Sunderland then he should score goals for us.
