Terrible! Sturridge has the chance to take the England frontline for himself, he is streets ahead of all of the rest of those players. Different class altogether.

I hope he decides to retire from England though, I hate internationals.
I doubt he'll retire from international football at the age of 23 and with 5 caps
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Monaco considering surprise move for Andy Carroll as Liverpool striker considers options

Monaco have made a surprise inquiry for England striker Andy Carroll, who is set to leave Liverpool this summer.

        By Jason Burt

        10:00PM BST 18 May 2013

Carroll’s season-long loan spell at West Ham United ends after the final Premier League match at home against Reading today and the forward would appear unwanted by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

West Ham want to secure Carroll on a permanent deal but they are reluctant to pay Liverpool the £16 million they are demanding for the 24-year-old, who is also earning wages of £90,000 a week.

Newcastle United, who sold Carroll to Liverpool for £35 million in January 2011, are also in the running but, like West Ham, they want to pay far less than the current asking price for a player who does not have a future at Anfield.

Monaco are an interesting prospect having gained promotion back to Ligue 1 this season under former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri, whose own future is under scrutiny.

The club are backed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev who wants them to qualify for the Champions League next season and is prepared to spend.

Monaco have been linked with moves for a number of high-profile players – including Carlos Tévez – and although it would appear that there is only a remote chance of Carroll joining them, they have expressed an interest depending on who else they sign.

Carroll has impressed at West Ham despite an injury-affected season and manager Sam Allardyce is keen to retain the England striker.

“He has shown everybody what he can do and he has massive potential to grow into a very good player if he ends up back here with us,” Allardyce said.

“He’s so willing to learn and become better that I think we could do well for each other, but there is a way to go before that might get sorted.”

If they fail in that attempt, the club would look for a similar style of striker.

West Ham have already registered their interest, along with a number of other Premier League clubs, in Romelu Lukaku should Chelsea decide to send the Belgian international back out on loan next season after the forward spent this season at West Bromwich Albion.

West Ham have also held talks to sign the prolific Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony, although Stoke City appear the favourites to sign the Ivorian should he move to England.

Fat Sam has the perfect chance to redeem himself, he'll go up in my estimations if he pulls it off.

Carroll would be great for them IMO.

Andy Carroll: West Ham want Liverpool striker - Sam Allardyce

West Ham are in talks with Liverpool about taking striker Andy Carroll to Upton Park on a permanent deal.
Manager Sam Allardyce said signing the 24-year-old, who has been on a season-long loan at the Hammers, was the club's primary focus this summer.
"It is our target to make it a permanent situation," he said.

"Hopefully we can get somewhere in the near future to do that. It's our main priority. There are negotiations between the club and Liverpool."
The England international has had an injury-hit season, scoring only seven goals, but when fit has produced impressive displays for the east London side and set up two goals in the 4-2 victory over Reading on Sunday.
"We have to pursue it to the very end one way or another and we will find out as quick as we can if it is a yes or a no," continued Allardyce.
"If we can start with Andy Carroll, that would be a great achievement for us as he can only get better and better.
"Then we build around that in terms of how we want to improve next year, with better quality.
"Andy is a player who is wanting to enjoy his football. He lives for his football and wants to play every game. He wants to use his strengths and score as many as he can - but he also works very hard for the team."
Former Newcastle striker Carroll, who joined Liverpool for £35m in January 2011, set up the opening two goals for West Ham on Sunday, scored by captain Kevin Nolan and Ricardo Vaz Te.
Reading levelled the scores in three second-half minutes through Garath McCleary and Adam Le Fondre before Nolan scored twice more in the last 12 minutes to seal victory for the Hammers.

What we need is a bidding war to get his price up. Hopefully Pardew will come to the party now that the season's finished and the barcodes know they'll still be in the prem next year.
