disagree with this - Carroll was a young raw talent making waves - at the time i said the following and i still stand by this - had Carroll signed for Arsenal/United/Chelsea/Spurs/City - we'd have been in uproar for not have been in the mix for a young english talent coming through.Originally posted by Arn View Post
Don't feel sorry for him. Plenty of time after the career to go out and "have some fun" but during it he must care of what he drink and eat.
Our scouts did a very poor job when they recommended that he would be a good signing. Deserved to be sacked.
Even if you only carry one kilo extra weight then that extra weight means that the risk to get injured will be bigger etc.
the issue is and always will be the cost of the transfer, imo a more realistic value would have been £10m to £15m - which is less risk and of an impact - however we have to factor in the Torres transfer of £50m! in reality Torres should have been sold for about £30m and Carroll signed for about £15m - which still equals £15m nett spend.
Moving on though, he signed, he did some decent things for us, world class performance at home to city stands out, and the joy i had being at wembley when he nodded in the winner against everton i'll never ever forget,
ultimatley though off the pitch it's clear he has a bit a lifestyle which effects him on the pitch and we where right to get rid and looking at it now we've actually done well to get him off our wage and some money back and it's not our problemi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

The players off the pitch lifestyle is something you must scout before you sign a player.Originally posted by PTP View Postdisagree with this - Carroll was a young raw talent making waves - at the time i said the following and i still stand by this - had Carroll signed for Arsenal/United/Chelsea/Spurs/City - we'd have been in uproar for not have been in the mix for a young english talent coming through.

Our scouts now acts more or less like a football version of James Bond. They ask relatives and friends about the player and they follow him to check what places he visit etc.Stop the cyberhate

After reading that book I'm not worried that we will sign a player that have a problem that will affect him on the pitch.
I thought that it was a joke when a friend said how they scout players now but the book explains how football scouts work and it wasn't a joke.Stop the cyberhate

He had half a good season, not exactly set the championship on fire and showed limited technical ability. I would say it was bad scouting and an insane price. £10m would have been silly too for such a player.Originally posted by PTP View Postdisagree with this - Carroll was a young raw talent making waves - at the time i said the following and i still stand by this - had Carroll signed for Arsenal/United/Chelsea/Spurs/City - we'd have been in uproar for not have been in the mix for a young english talent coming through.

I was joking about my lunch. I'll be working diligently all the way through my lunch hour, as I do every day.
