Imagine the outcry with new owners if we took the £50 million for Torres and didnt reinvest it.
All the ****e with Hicks and Gillette bleading us dry? The press would have had a field day for 7 months and morale would have hit proper rock bottom.
Carroll was on our radar from Rafa seeing him in an academy match a few years earlier and in my opinion he will prove to be worth every penny.

    well said.

All true - i think he has limitations - but, he wants to be @ LFC & the King wants him here -

@ TrueFan - i'm sure there's a few Geordie forums that might have a few threads that you may be able to make a contribution to? You should scurry off to them if you wish to make a few points about our No 9

He's a LFC player - he deserves our support - Simple as that

It doesn't matter how you justify it, we overpaid. We broke the record transfer fee for an English player for gods sake. I don't think that using the excuse of that it was Chelsea's money we spent is a good one.

But, We've bought Carroll now, its all well and good saying we could have got a better striker for the money, but we didn't, its all ifs and buts. But the fact of the matter is now we have Carroll we need to get behind him 150% he is a Liverpool player and we should treat him like one. He has never IMO had a 'terrible' performance, and over the past few weeks he has showed more and more encouraging signs of the player that we wanted for that kind of money, he seems to be scoring again and I don't know if anyone has noticed but his passing is excellent.

I do still worry about his first touch but overall he's played well, and has always showed passion, him and Suarez trying as hard as they can is a refreshing change from Torres looking like he couldn't be arsed.

It's unfortunate for him that he has the price tag hanging over his head, I think if we paid half of what we paid for him people would be saying we made a good purchase, I really do hope he comes good, really really do.

These players wouldn't have cost spurs or arsenal that amount. Had we went for a 35 mill striker such as balotelli or llorente we would have been quoted the full 50 mill that we got for Torres. We are not city or Chelsea and we won't get ripped off as much as them but we are going to be quoted higher prices given our new financial position.
Plus, English players are always gonna cost more because as the world knows English players are the greatest players in the world!

I think about the people who have praised him in the past. Kevin Keegan, Didier Drogba, Alan Shearer and of course Kenny Dalgish. All great strikers who know what it is to be a top player. He hasn't shown all the attributes we saw he is capable of at Newcastle and even though they are just other opinions, he must have huge potential to garner that sort of response from players like that. The form he showed at Newcastle (though admittedly much of what I saw of him was highlights on MOTD) is something that can be recreated here. I think he has yet to fit into our system and I feel that with time he will develop into a great asset to the club. He is definitely part of our long term future and deserves the support of the fans to allow him time to show what he is made of. We have all seen he is capable of it, now lets just give him some breathing space.

I was under the impression he was / is extremely well regarded within the game by coaching staff as well, in terms of talent. He'll come good, to be fair he has has been getting better with each game and he really does not get the ball that often through out the game

1:He struggles to head the ball
2:He cannot create chances for himself
3:He cannot create chances for others
4:He has poor movement and anticipation in the box
                    5:He cannot hold theball up
                    6:He has a poor touch
                    7:He cannot beat a defender
8:He has slow reflexes and is slow to react

                    £35m sound a bargain?

Why on earth would anyone think this guy can come good?
Cause he's only 22 and has plenty of time to improve most of his deficiencies, which was my point in the first place.

Andy is much better footballer than what he's showed thus far and even you know that..

Seriously, we got Adam, Enrique and Coates for decent money.

That's harsh, I don't see how he struggles to head the ball he wins alot of battles in the air, in the Swansea game he won alot of knock downs, many into good areas, but no one was making the runs, if they had been he would have created a number of chances. He is decent at holding the ball up.

We knew when we signed him he wasn't the type of player to beat defenders and create chances for himself, but that's not why we signed him.

Some times his touch is good, some times it's bad, I've seen him have some great first touches as well as some poor ones, this is something he needs to improve on and get more consistent good touches. I'm not sure how much the injuries and still working his way back to fitness have had on his movement and anticipation and ability to react, but these are areas that I think will improve when he's had a consistent run of games and got to know his team mates, although these are aspects of his game that could be improved upon, but remember he is still young and we didn't buy him as the finished article.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

yeh, adam and enrique were good prices (in fact enrique was a bargain) whereas coates only time will tell.

Thought he looked decent against WBA and Swansea. Think the biggest difference in him is that mentally he looks much more motivated and involved, perhaps the manager had a word with him.
Our next three fixtures are huge, if AC starts those games we'll see if he has genuinely improved or not.

Thise comments are based upon the comments in the post of Mostar. So not my conclusions.

It is meant to illustrate the lengths people will go to avoid a simple truth. We paid £35 MILLION QUID for Andy Carroll and ever his strongest defenders make that list of concerns.

Some say he is not the finished article. For £35 MILLION he should be.

Some say it was not our money we spent but Chelsea's. Nope it was ours. Just because someone overpaid doesn't me we had to.

Some say we are not converting enough chances. I know. If only we had a true £35 MILLION striker. We would be 6 or 7 points better off than we are now and I would say we were virtual certs for a Champions League spot.
