I can't understand the Mourinho MK II thing at all.

Villas Boas is an out and out attack minded manager. Mourinho is a defensive minded one.

Villas Boas will probably make Chelsea play the best attacking football in the league
but they will also leak more goals than before.
Can he find the right balance? Can he master the big egos in the squad? At Porto he was loved by the players at Chelsea he will just be yet another manager.

No. That will be Kenny & Liverpool

Too many egos at Chelsea, from the top to the bottom. The players may well end up treating him like they used too, rather than a manager.

Just thinking, the guy was around at chelsea doing all the dvds, reports etc at the time Rafa was here. Press are making a big deal of this 'new special one and how good he is' Yet they (him and Jose) could not master Rafa. Rafa was a genius

I doubt that it was ill-informed. Roman played the game brilliantly IMO. Roman and Hiddink made it look like Hiddink was nailed on to get the job and thanks to that they could work to get Villas Boas in without a lot of speculation in the media. A job well done.

Inter showed interest last week so Chelsea had to move now. Not a coincidence that this happens straight after Inter showed their interest.

Villas Boas was always their first choice IMO.

Im sure I read somewhere that Chelsea had already put the feelers out about a possible return only to be informed that he wasnt interested.

Yep, remember something about that very recently, had'nt heard that it had gone so far as him actually being asked yet, or that he ended up telling Chelsea the answer was no, so if true that's good news, all i remember was a rumour that they were thinking about trying to lure him back there.

He was linked with pretty much every club under the sun (including us) and given his recent comments about no going anywhere for little while and Chavs heavily linked with Guus, it's surprising twist of events...

He was joint favourite along with Hiddink when Ancelotti was sacked. How many of the other clubs were actually looking for a manager though? He's been linked heavily with Chelsea for at least the past month so its looked likely they would go for him, if not Hiddink. Despite any recent comments, this hasn't really come out of the blue at all.

Will be very interesting to se how he gets on though

No he did'nt win it all, infact Chelsea have'nt yet won the trophy their owner most craves, their 'Holy Grail' so to speak.

I'd like to think he'd stay given the choice, but i would'nt be sure, but i agree winning the Prem with Liverpool would be bigger than winning the Champions league with the Chavs, but that's me....not sure about what Clarke would think though, or how close he feels to Chelsea as a club.

tbh he has all the potential in the world and I know a lot of us talked about wanting him here, me included but with only 1 season behind him albeit a very successful one it could well prove too much for him what with Abramovich's itchy trigger finger, fans expectation and massive, massive egos' to deal with.

Stranger things have happened in football management - see Graeme Souness when he took over at Rangers!

And consider the fact that he is probably younger than many of said egos as well, can well be a hindrance.
