Fair comment. Looking at our (rumoured potential) spend this summer and our keenness to hack away at the wage bill, I think it could be once bitten, twice shy for FSG.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostThey backed the manager and the director of football - the two experts! I don't think they should take too much criticism really.
I don't think the sacking of Comolli / Dalglish was a close run thing at all. I reckon as soon as it dawned on them how **** our signings were the decision was made there and then. Henry's body language towards Dalglish in the FA cup final spoke volumes in hindsight.
Privately they must be absolutey ****ing livid at the poor judgement of Dalglish and Comolli.
I still think some criticism can be levelled at FSG though; it highlights an element of naivety and a lack of education on something they have invested a lot of money in to and they seem quick to lay the blame at the feet of others. Yes, they needed to surround themselves by 'experts', but I think they lost sight of their common sense and got sucked in to the hype of the situation.
To dismiss it as 'English ****e' when they signed the cheque shows a slight gap in the club as a whole and the direction they were all pulling in. But yes, they employed people for their skills and it looks like they were not impressed - like you say - the FA Cup final *display* looks quite obvious with hindsight.
Kenny and Comolli have to take the brunt of the blame, but the buck doesn't stop with just them, in my opinion.

Theres a widely held belief that the your level of success equates to your wage bill. The bigger your wages bill the more successful you are. Rafa benitez too has alluded to this in a couple of interviews.
However comolli the dip**** decided to inflate our wage bill by overpaying for dopey cunts like downing and carroll.
One thing is paying 100k a week to luis suarez. Its quite another to give downing 80k a week.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Normally time heals these sort of wounds but if anything in these cases it seems to get worse. I'll never get my head around it.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think he's a decent player actually and can see how in some setups he could be very useful. The problem is that we haven't got (or had recently) and established shape that he could slot into and he's clearly not good enough to modify your game plan to accommodate him.Originally posted by red g View PostI dont rate Downing, but if you can endure 3mins of this, you see he does pop up all over the place and is a constant threat. Instead of the lily livered sheister who plays for us.

I think he would have been as good if not better than Riera in the system that Rafa had established but the key to that was the strength at CM. The job of one of the wide players was essentially to increase the space in the middle and take advantage if the opposition put numbers into that area.
He's perhaps the least suitable member of the squad for the move to Rodgers methods where each player has to take a lot more responsibility.Last edited by dww; 17-07-12, 09:14 AM."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

His saving grace may be that, while expectations of a more combustable workrate are required when with Brenny and the Reds, there is a clear allocation of role and responsibility in the structure. It's probably more likely that Rodgers will say 'I want you to do this and this is how you'll do it' where as Kenny expected a more fluid and unrestricted style of play.Originally posted by dww View PostI think he's a decent player actually and can see how in some setups he could be very useful. Unfortunately for him last year's extreme levels of crapness probably means we won't have to suffer the trauma of finding out if that's true
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
