It goes even beyond thatOriginally posted by red g View PostSo does Comolli

Downing - £20 m
Carroll £35 m
Henderson - £15 m
Aquilani - £20 m
Keane - £20 m
Add to that Konchesky, Cole, Poulsen, Jovanovic - All on high wages.
Has there been any other club on the planet who has thrown away money like ours since 2009

Are there? Who is your source? Everything being quoted has mentioned loan deals only so far.. Do tell.Originally posted by destinydude View PostJust so you know, I do know that no deal is ever done in straight cash but there are cubs who can take him at 8m spread over 12 or 24 months even without the extra appearance/goals addons.Vive la France

We've been dreadful in the transfer market for a long, long time now, well before 2009. I'd go so far as to say from the day Souness was appointed manager we've generally been awful in the transfer market. For anyone interested here's a list of every player we've signed and sold since 1992 :
Makes grim reading really, for example when you look at that list there was a period from 1992 to 1999 when we arguably didn't make a single sensible signing (Hyypia marked the end of that cycle).
Rafa was no doubt an improvement on the other managers we've had since 1991 and he made some cracking signings but he also wasted a lot of money too on players who were either awful or bang average.
I just hope FSG and Rodgers have looked at lists like the one I've posted and have learnt from previous mistakes. The signing of Borini is a good first step and the names we're being linked to are generally the right kind of player with the exception of Dempsey.

Becoming a professional scout for LFC must be the easiest job in the world. That list makes me question the word professional in professional scout.
The success rate especially among attacking players is so bad, so poor that I am sure a bunch of est1892 posters will do better given the same resources.

Our scouts may have been awful but no one forced the manangers to buy those players did they ?? All of our managers since 1991 apart from Hodgson have as far as I know had the final say on players bought and sold. All we really need is a manager who is a good judge of a player and has a clear idea of what he wants in terms of style of play, age etc., whether Rodgers is that manager I honestly don't know, it's too early to say.Originally posted by peekay View PostStaggering isnt it

We bought from watching MOTD. Adams, Drowning and Carroll while they are no PFK they certainly are not good enough to be Liverpool players imo.Originally posted by brightred View PostI really do wonder why Kenny bought him. I've seen him play against us four times in the past and every time he was average at best.
I know Kenny is a legend but if I'm a better judge of a player than him then we were always ****ed with downing._____________________________________

No problems here though. Downing does not have any value.Originally posted by peekay View PostAccording to some ITK's on twitter (not sure how reliable they are), couple of clubs are interested in taking him on loan.
I am guessing we will face this issue quite a bit ever since the genius that is Purslow decided to loan out Aquilani to preserve his value. Every club will be trying to take out cast offs as loans rather than purchasing them outright.Oh I don't know.
