Our scouts may have been awful but no one forced the manangers to buy those players did they ?? All of our managers since 1991 apart from Hodgson have as far as I know had the final say on players bought and sold. All we really need is a manager who is a good judge of a player and has a clear idea of what he wants in terms of style of play, age etc., whether Rodgers is that manager I honestly don't know, it's too early to say.

I agree. What I wanted to convey was the failure of the entire scouting operation with the manager at the helm.

****in hell. We really went completely bat**** mental last year. When you see that and what Downing actually produced for us i.e. ****in nothing it's no surprise at all that both Kenny and Comolli are gone. In terms of money spent on Carroll/Adam/Downing/Henderson compared to the impact they have had, the owners clearly see 0/4. And it's really hard to disagree.

I think the fernando torres of finance was ripping our squad that summer in addition to Hodgson.

I'd assumed Hodgson must have had significant input as he was a big fan of Poulsen and had worked with Knochesky before I can't imagine either of those as anything but Hodgson signings, maybe he didn't have total control as it's unclear whose idea signing Meireles was.

And FSG must have authorised it; they need to accept some of the responsibility too. Which they may have done, hence their culling exercise.

I'd guess the £80k a week rumour seems to be generated from Carroll's rumoured wage too. Whether it's true or not, I can't quite make my mind up.

They backed the manager and the director of football - the two experts! I don't think they should take too much criticism really.

I don't think the sacking of Comolli / Dalglish was a close run thing at all. I reckon as soon as it dawned on them how **** our signings were the decision was made there and then. Henry's body language towards Dalglish in the FA cup final spoke volumes in hindsight.

Privately they must be absolutey ****ing livid at the poor judgement of Dalglish and Comolli.

I think by January the owners had realised changes needed to be made, CHAD was a ****ing calamity. Inactivity in the January transfer window was a clear sign that owners didn't support Kenny and Comolli anymore.

We were crying out for players as well, It would appear that FSG had lost faith and prepared to right off any chance of a decent finish.....hopefully that means more money in the warchest this summer for Rodgers

i have heard repeatedly that our inactivity in january was a major reason that comolli was fired, and was all down to him.
