Same thing Torres is doing to De Mateo.

Nothing but he still gets the starting job in hopes that he'll turn the corner, which sadly will never happen.

We really need to shake things us and put him on the chopping block.

Sell him to back to Villa or Sunderland for 10m and then go and buy Griezmann or Mertens.

There was one point yesterday in the first half when he was out on the right and came inside to deliver what can only be described as a pass to a defender just inside their box with his left foot. Just a bobbler along the ground.

Truly shocking to believe that's what 20m (and a multi-million contract) gets you........so much so that I had to rewind it twice to believe it actually happened.

It's easier said than done, if we got rid of all the **** in our squad we won't be able to put together a match day squad. As well as quality we also need numbers.

If we will sell him we have to do that now as we still have plenty of time and more options to find his replacement.

I don't know where this false sense of optimism for Downing came from, and then after a standard performance, a number of people are turning on him or/and giving him more grief. What were you expecting? Let's be honest it was a **** up of a signing, he's a horrible player and the only hope I have of him is that he gets out of the club.

Overall though, there are a number of things that need fixing in this team, and despite his performance was not the reason for the defeat on the weekend and I think we should recognise that.
