Stewart Downing - West Hahahaham player

There was a school of thought last season that he was a confidence player and that had he had a bit more luck early last season he'd have been a different player. This season getting that goal should give him an early boost so if this suggestion is right perhaps we can see what he can really do.

He scored twice last season and got MOM in the Carling Cup Final and still didn't kick on.
Rodgers has used him on the right flank twice and right now, Downing needs to work on getting into those small spaces, making clever passes and making more accurate shots on goal. Needs to get used to running up and down the flanks, retaining possession and getting used to the fact he'll see more of the ball than he ever has done with his previous club.

Still expect Dempsey and Suarez to come in and take his place, but he could do well off the bench when the game becomes more open (depending on the score).

Frustrating, after about four minutes I thought, hey Downing is showing up, then, well he didn't. I'd like to play Sterling and loan out Downing, at least I can be patient towards Sterling.

I would actually go for that.

Even at the fragile age of 17 I think he could give us more than Downing.

The problem is that Rodgers bought the player that will play on the left and he likes Downing on the right.

Sadly I think Raheem will be going away to get some more experience first.
