i'll give him that he works hard. I like that about him. Although despite the work rate he still fades out of the match, which is less than ideal.

I know Rafa rightfully got rid of Keane sharpish but it's the norm to give a player a season not six months.

We don't have a big stadium so every million is much more important because of the new rules. If we can get £15m for him in January then it would be better to sell him then instead of waiting another six months and may only get £10m.

We also have better options. Maxi is a better option both on the left and right and Kuyt is a better option on the right.

That is utter madness. It's not the norm and his value won't be good at all if we're desperate to get rid in January. We got lucky that the wheeler dealer took Keane back, that's not going to happen every time.

The problem is, if they are playing badly. then they should not be in the team, but then that does not really give them the chance they need. I think a season is long enough to judge Downing, as he should be at the peak of his game, and he was bought to do a very specific job, on the weight of his performances as Villa.

The likes of Carroll, while I find him to have few of the features one comes to expect from a £35m fee. is still young, and younger players can take a while to settle. We have nothing to lose by giving him a couple of years, and players sometimes reinvent themselves (Lucas is evidence of that, Kuyt too). Again, its debatable if he should be near the team or not, but sometimes it is tactics and not form that determine the team sheet.
