Amazingly clumsy makes me wonder if he needs a teammate to tie his shoelaces for him.

Let's just pretend that we make 4th spot and we're in the CL next season. And it was a CL semi against Man City, not the CC. The game is a mirror of these, except the penalty was given against Adam. With that, and the de Jong fiasco is that the kind of player you want at the club?

Watching Adam last night it's very clear he's a talented passer of the ball but in a 2 he's a liability as his tackling and athletic ability clearly aren't what they need to be.

If we play a 3 man CM we'd see more from him IMO

I think there is still concern about his play under pressure too, he needs time and space to play, he quick passing isn't the best either. He has use as a good back up, but we need someone more intelligent and someone with a wide range of talents to his game for us.

you have a concern about everyone on the pitch though!

If you leave him to play the passing game with 2 others with him I think we'd see the best of him, obviously you'll disagree.

He for me though is a squad player and a decent one problem being is we don't have better available .

Because I want us to be a better team and to do that we need better players than Adam.

At the top level you need better defending and more intelligence than Adam has.

Yes he is a decent sub.

Yep, in a 3 man midfield I think that position would be between him and Gerrard every time, anyway. A DM, the not too attacking not too defensive player like Henderson, then the creative player.

He's a very one-dimensional player he relies on his passing/delivery too much, I don't think the rest of his game is at a high enough level to warrant his regular inclusion in the team.

I agree that he looks better in a 3 man midfield, but that basically means we need two players to do the role of one, which leaves us short elsewhere, probably up front. We got away with this somewhat last night because i) City were playing an attacking open game, and ii) Bellamy was outstanding. The three man midfield is appropriate for the games against big teams who don't just come to put men behind the ball and defend, but against teams that do park the bus a 3 man midfield is not necessary, but a two man midfield containing an Adam not on his game will be a problem.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Adam has replaced Skrtel as the Liverpool player most likely to do something stupid and give away a goal.

He has improved the past couple of games, but long term he is not the answer. I can't see us getting higher than 4th in the league with him a regular starter in the team.

That said, we have been spoiled in this department over the years.
At the risk of starting a ruck with Chris , I have seen very little to change my overall opinion.

I thought he was poor again last night. A liability when defending, poor decision making when passing or shooting, and just not particularly intelligent. The occasional hollywood ball does not make him a good player if he is making mistakes in the rest of his game.
                      Oh I don't know.

We have had some terrible luck with injuries and suspensions, and that is why he has been starting regularly.

If Gerrard and Lucas are both fit, Adam should not get a look in imo.

Maybe he just needs to settle into his role here more, confident in his ability to be an lfc player, he's shown glimpses of true class, some nice shooting with both feet and as you say some absolute hollywood balls.

If he can get the erorrs in his game down, some of the bad decision making which usually come when it needs playing simple, then he can be an lfc player.

Maybe not first choice for the future, but certainly squad. imo.

We should not be in the market for players in their mid 20s (or older) who need development imo.

I have seen very little evidence of nice shooting. How many goals has he scored which have not been deflected in?

A squad player that has played more than his fair share this season.

He's not good enough. The only way he can play well is when he has a dedicated DM alongside him to do the dirty work for him Lucas for us, Vaughan last season for Blackpool). That means Lucas in our case, which means Gerrard can't play CM.

Also his lack of defensive instinct (and I'd say desire to defend at times) is going to keep costing us goals.

I just don't think he's good enough to warrant that one spare CM birth alongside Lucas and he never will be.

He should be a squad player for us and nothing more once Lucas is back. He's a luxury player, but he's only really Tesco Value quality.
