Turkish side Fenerbahce have confirmed that they have opened talks to sign Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, 31

Can't help but think that United have properly reverted to type recently, and are lashing money around extravagantly like they did in the 80's under Big Ron. They had years of benefiting from the "Class of 92" and were able to build around them in a way no other team has been able to - if a big signing didn't work out, they always had the impetus and winning mentality to get through difficulties. That was epitomised by Keane and Ferguson together. I think they've regressed massively and are just another cash heavy club chucking **** at a wall with signings and hoping they stick.

Not saying i'm jizzing my kecks over Ings etc but i'd rather that than what they're doing, I just don't see it working out long-term.

I think it's too soon to judge. Real Madrid do OK with this strategy and the Mancs have the money to go the same way if they want.

Schweinsteiger Joining apparently.

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to reports in Germany.

The Bundesliga club's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed earlier this week that the 30-year-old was flattered by the interest from United.

Last week, Matthias Sammer, Bayern's sporting director, also confirmed that Schweinstweiger could depart the club, while Pep Guardiola said that the player would have to decide his own future.

And Bild report the Red Devils have finally struck a deal for the German World Cup winner for a fee believed to be in the region of £15million.

Schweinsteiger is understood to have thrashed out a three-year contract with the Old Trafford outfit.




I suppose they're not going for Schneiderlin now.

He is "only" 30 so should have a few years in him. I imagine he'll be on huge wages and lets see how his ankles handle the Premier League. V good play but a lot of injuries in the last couple of years.

Was a phenomenal player a few years ago & to be fair we would be waxing lyrical if he signed for us. I just hope he has a ****ing nightmare. If he can play to his best, they really have some player on their hands.

Be interesting to see how he handles to pace and tempo of the league.

He'll be 31 by the time next season starts.
