Agreed, the full backs are critical for me and really the loss of Johnson and Coutinho were the main reasons we moved to a 3 centre back pairing. I have to say the first few games of the season that Toure and Agger looked pretty good playing together in a back 4.

Also agree with Allen coming in, I fancy he'll be really up for it but he needs to be played in a 3 with Lucas as the holding player, perhaps Fulham would be a good chance to play Lucas/Henderson & Allen as our midfield with Coutinho pulling the strings behind Sturridge and Suarez.

Whilst I don't think Gerrard has been too bad this season I also don't think giving him a break from the side now and again is a bad idea and it also gives the impression of nobody is guaranteed to start which is something we've struggled with over the years, it'd hopefully get the most out of the players knowing that if they don't perform they don't play

I don't think anyone would have unless/until someone else was playing well enough to demand to play. At the minute none of the alternatives would be a convincing choice.

I'd be tempted with this. More of a diamond shape in midfield with Lucas sitting, I'd not want to see us change from having two central strikers at the moment as they're good for goals.

Came on against West Brom for his first appearence of the season when we were 4-1 up, would probably have come on against Arsenal if we had a lead to defend.

Fulham are **** and they cant defend for toffee but that's not our problem. We can only do what we have to pick up 3 points. Really they were the ideal opponents after arsenal.

He's a good player to have in reserve but of course we expected more at £15m. We wouldn't get that kind of money back so personally I'd stick with him and see how he goes.

agree with the highlighted bit. i cannot see him contributing to our 'positive' play, only seems to stifle the play and try and keep it tidy. its all well and good playing the ball around like you own the midfield, but this is against struggling fulham. if we try this against better teams with allen out there we will get bent over.
maybe brendan is putting the welsh xavi in the window, ready for west ham to come and make an offer.
