Maybe the fact that Lucas was rusty contributed a bit to him not exactly looking great either. Maybe.Comment

If he's the second midfielder, he's going to be well down the pecking order behind Gerrard and Henderson.
He's certainly no attacking midfielder and he can't really fill in for Lucas (which is the one key position that needs a signing).

At the start of last season he was setting the tempo of the games really well, but then teams got about him, pressed him and nullified his game.

The forgotten man.
How did he play yesterday?
I think he'll have a big season for us this time around. There's better movement and a better understanding throughout the team which will help him. He's had a year to adjust and expectation is lower which can only help him no?

He was fine, him and Henderson dominated midfield first half. Decent for his first game in about 4 months, though I think he'll have to score 3 and assist 3 to get much credit on here.Comment
