I still remember his handball against them back in 91. Obviously time plays tricks in the mind but I'm sure he spiked it

Actually, didnt David Speedie score in that match too?
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

He scored 6 in 12 including 1 against the Mancs and two against Everton.

Signed by Dalglish when he had started to lose the plot. Around the same time he also signed Jimmy Carter, the worst player I've seen in a Liverpool shirt in more than half a century of being a supporter. He made the awful Speedie look like Lionel Messi.

Don't be so quick write him off, I thought he was excellent until he was asked to play as a holding midfielder.

He was playing out of position

                              He was playing injured too.

The jury's out, but he did look decent at first. Brendan seemed to be setting up differently to how he started the season, so it'll be interesting to see how he fits him into that system. If its a 4231, you can't see him being anything but a backup, given that the two main central positions will be taken by Lucas and Gerrard. The position behind the striker isn't for him and he isn't a wide player.

                              Where does he fit in?

I'd bet money the idea was to play Lucas as the holding midfielder, Allen as the metronome with Sahin in the current Gerrard position with Gerrard utilised as one of the forwards.

Lucas got injured, Sahin took too long to find his feet and Gerrard dropped deep to influence play. Brendan simply adapated to compensate and Allen suffered as a result.

I think you'll probably see Allen rotating with Henderson depending on opposition and with Gerrard during cup games.
