One slight criticism of Messi is that he often hasn't brought his Barca form to international level... regardless he's still a genius footballer, i don't have to see him at international level to recognise this.

As i said not my opinion personally i think that his level of performance is so high for Barca that sometimes it's just impossible to recreate that. IMO the Argie national team although having great individuals has lacked any sort of cohesion or balance for a long time, which hasn't helped Messi.

And Messi has really start to put in some top displays for country recently

With a heavy heart I went for Zidane. Take nothing away from Iniesta, he's a brilliant brilliant player but Zizou turned up well for a **** France team and took them to the finals in 06 single handedly and that's movie like so well yea Zidane

I think the comparison is not fair because this Barcelona team has created and defined a new style of midfielder like Iniesta and Xavi. Not in the same style or mould as Zizou at all IMO.

In the next decade i think we will see this style of player improve and refine and Iniesta will maybe get more credit for his talents.

I am a big fan of Iniesta but personally Zizou is just a very special player and has made more of an impact on my footballing life.

Yes he was good but I'd put him in the same class as the likes of Rivaldo, Ronaldo (fat one), Ronaldinho, Figo, Iniesta, Xavi etc. Zidane had great skills and some nice touches, but was he consistent? He performed well on the big stage but I can recall his time at Juventus hardly being eye catching. I think Rivaldo was one of the most underrated players in recent times. In fact he was unbelievably talented and he was a game changer. He won games on his own for Barca and was consistent.

I suppose the next tier of players of players would be Cristiano Ronaldo, Pele, Maradona etc (not that I have properly seen the latter 2 play).

Messi is the one and only player in the next tier. He is unreal.

I can accept you opinions on many players but Ronaldo the Real Ronaldo !



There has not in the last 20 years come a striker as complete as him. Pre-injury and even on many occasions after injury. Look at his stats.

Also Zidane is a show stopper an architect an icon, a brand, good looking too... he was the Rodger Fed of the football world.

Iniesta is brilliant just boring and plain white... Compared to Le Coq

Zidane - has to be.

He was a phenomenal player, could do absolutely everything. I’d have him right up there in the Pele/Maradona/Messi bracket to be honest.

I really rate Iniesta but I don’t think he has had the same impact as Zizou on the game – which is probably unfair on him when he plays alongside such a menagerie of talent at club and international level.
