To be honest though i'm surprised the poll isn't more in the favour of Zidane, there's just no comparison IMO. Each to their own

Odd to compare these players in the first place.

          Your avatar.

          I agree with LDP.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

It's demonstrably not odd as the debate has been ongoing with a group of football pundits and fans, culminating in Balague's rather biased article

He is the greatest attacking midfielder in the world and of his era. Zidane is the greatest from the previous generation. What's so odd about it

The only thing I'd say about it is Iniesta is still going with much still to achieve, so it'd probably be best to wait until Iniesta retires.

It's close but to me it's still clearcut, every time. With, as you mention, the caveat that Iniesta is still going.

I was just gonna post something similar. Iniesta still potentially was many defining career moments. The World Cup Performance to add to many.

On top of that he has a great technique and dribbling skills and a vision only matched by few.
Unbelievable player really. I went to see barca in la liga 2 years ago.. Messi playing on wing directly under me for the 2nd half.. And yet, it was Iniesta that had me completely entranced for entire game.

Fact is he did NOT lose the ball ONCE in the entire 90 minutes. It stuck to his foot, and he was finding ways through 3 and 4 players playing around them, between them, they couldn't get close.

In terms of seeing a match live in person, it was an absolute masterclass of a midfield performance to view. to extent I only really watched him for the rest of match, even when he wasn't on the ball. couldn't take my eyes of him!

Xavi is a more important player for Spain & Barca than Iniesta. And he's not quite in Zidane's league in terms of winning a game on his own or inspiring a team to win a tournament.

He was. Not now he isn't. Especially now Iniesta isn't stuck out wide as much. Iniesta is the main man.

Yep. He's a fantastic player and undoubtedly one of Spain's all time greats. But you could say the same of about half his teammates. So, sure, he's brilliant but there are just too many excellent players for the opposition to mark. At the very least it makes comparison difficult.

Whereas Zidane won the World Cup for France despite starting alongside Stephane Guivarc'h. He was the only one the opposition really had to mark yet he was still player of the tournament by a mile.

But I love watching Iniesta play, he's sublime.
