He was a pure panic buy its simple as that. A big name on the cheap who nobody wanted. Easily the dumbest transfer the club has ever done. Not even finger tip touching distance of caroll. I dont believe its anything to do with our system for the way he plays. He's got a style that he shows at every club hes been at. That is limited movement, greedy, and shoots stupidly on sight. There is no system on earth that rodgers could of told him to follow that equates to 90% of his shots being struck from outside the box directly at a defender 1 yard from him or shooting it high into the top stand. He's a useless player with limited drive. The absolute complete opposite of what we should have been looking for. Anyone involved in bringing him over should be taking a massive pay cut for a stupid business decision or suspended. Replaced would be good. Sorry but I cant find any good reasoning in buying him in the first place. Laughing stock is what were when we bought him and are for still having him past january.

I reckon Brendan has bought himself an effective £16,000,000 patsy. Once things start going to **** you just casually drop in a 'Mario wouldn't even get on the bus' type of comment.
Everyone needs a stooge or fall guy to deflect attention, and Mario has been used many times this season despite hardly ever playing. He's not done the business for sure, but our problems are deeper routed than purely with him. And the few times when he has shown promise he has been dropped soon after.Modifying post.

I was saying the same thing in the thread about our squad for next season. I don't know that 3-4-3 is the long term solution but given the likes of Johnson and Enrique have had little game time and will probably be moved on in the summer, we have limited options at full back, if we revert to a back 4 we probably need to spend a decent amount of fullbacks, if we are going 3 at the back there is no point. This is an obvious one, but there are many more subtle ones. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Not having a go at you Buzzo, but I've seen this notion pop up a few times now and I think it's crazy.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI reckon Brendan has bought himself an effective £16,000,000 patsy. Rodger's was asked about Mario and he gave a very brief, honest answer.
This idea that Balotelli is a convenient pawn for Rodgers is mental.
I'm sure he'd much rather have a functional player than a sideshow.
Rodger's gets on very well with players who do what's required of them, whereas Balotelli has frustrated every manager he's played under..

I agree he is an easy target as he's high profile and simply hasn't been good enough but there are many other issues that need to be addressed as well. I think broadly speaking almost everyone we brought in last summer hasn't done enough (Can probably is the only exception) There have perhaps been mitigating circumsatances for some of the others but I would have hoped to have seen more from all of them, and alot of the players who were here last year.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI reckon Brendan has bought himself an effective £16,000,000 patsy. You can have a go at me and any or all of my half baked theories if you want?
I only thought of the 'notion' about 20mins ago - its there to be shot at
TBH if he did buy him as a patsy, he is getting about as much value out of him as he is as player. He could be chucking him under the bus far more often. Its testing times for the Rodgers regime, we've had a purple patch, rode out luck and been totally wank all in one season. He's winging it.
Modifying post.

To be honest I think if Rodgers is making a big deal out of the Balotelli situation it is probably to make a point to the transfer committee, as based on his comments in the summer it wasn't Rodgers who wanted to bring him in. If Rodgers is making an example of Balotelli it's probably part of a play for more say over signings. That's my thought anywayOriginally posted by Buzzo View Post

OK, it's just I saw someone else saying the same after the Arsenal game and when I saw it again I thought people might actually be starting to think it
Let's be honest though, it'd have been far more useful to everyone, especially Rodgers, if Mario had come in and scored 10 goals

If we couldn't attract any better players than Mario with Champs league last summer - we could be in for another infuriating summer without.
I doubt Mario will get given time. Suarez took over a season to hit the heights, but I suspect we need someone to hit the ground running like Torres and Sturridge (the Sturridge problem is he is made of glass). But who i possible in terms of ability and wanting to come to us. Danny ****ing Ings is not the solution.Modifying post.

he isnt the problem either.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostDanny ****ing Ings is not the solution.
we would all like to see a top top striker come in, but given that we are not likely to spunk 30-40m on any one player then ings will almost certainly give us more than balotelli, borini and lambert put together.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
