I think we will lose money on Balotelli. Not getting a top class striker could well cost us a top four place, which would be far more costly than paying the money required to replace our star striker. We seem overly conservative at the moment, it's like we don't want to try the bigger risk bigger potential reward game and are happy to float around the top six. If we were really going to try and push on it would have been last summer. Yeah, we bought some players to try and address some issues with the squad, but it's the worldies that are the real difference between trophies and the also-rans.

IMO, this is lesser risk than buying established players. Mandsukic went for a similiar amount to Balotelli, but he was probably too old. Griezman went for the same amount as Markovic, Fabregas the same amount as Lallana, Kroos cost as much as Lovren.

Put together the wages and cost of Balotelli and Markovic and we could have put toghether a very attractive package for a top player. We need to change our policy, we are trying to be too clever for our own good and always take two step back for one forward with this tactic IMO.

Seems to me like it's the press who are driving the Balotelli scapegoat thing, not Rodgers.

They're the ones who keep singling him out (for obvious reasons) rather than say Lovren or Skrtel, not the manager.

Rodgers reply when asked yet again about Balotelli: “Was he playing centre-half?”

I think Rogers tweets etc .. arn't doing us any favors... Just wish he would shut up to be honest. Papers have gone over board as have some of our ex players. Sure Mario need to put more effort in we can all see that..
