Definitely. All the predefined issues are playing out one by one.

FIFA took the cash and ran.

Isn't that what do-gooding westerners go on about all the time now. Respect. Or does it only work when it doesn't actually affect you?

Then maybe they should not have based a lot of their bid on certain things being acceptable for the duration of the world cup and then at the last minute change what they said would be in place and allowed.

Seems their culture and belief was flexible when they wanted something then when they got it they decided it was back to being rigid.

Or maybe if they wanted everything to conform with their ways they should not have have invited a competition that through sponsorship and involved countries went against so much of their own culture.

They could have had a competition with only countries that shared similar views and beliefs being invited. Oh wait nobody would have given a **** about that competition and it would not have given them a chance to try and pretend they are something they are not.

So there’s a whole load of western do-gooders currently throwing out their common principles to slag off Qatar for a moral ban on Budweiser at the World Cup? You sure this isn’t an imaginary scenario that you’re creating?

All Budweiser care about are profits. Qatar will cover costs I'm sure, probably already unofficially agreed with UEFA years ago.

Only ones who lose out are the fans but considering everything else that's went on, it's hardly surprising.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

before the end of slavery, the american south was the economic powerhouse of the region. after the civil war it turned into a ****hole because the rule of law meant nothing and businesses couldn't count on agreements to be abided by.

the green revolution can't come quickly enough. obscenely wealthy single-family rule is incredibly toxic.

Would you drink Budweiser for a year if they told FIFA to go **** themselves and pulled out?

I saw a couple of mates yesterday and they're all up for it, pretty much saying it's not football's fault

I wouldn't judge anyone for going, but if it was me, I'd be dreading it.

I've been to Dubai with my partner and our 3 teenage (at the time) daughters and felt threatened while doing nothing wrong at all, so if that's anything to go by I'd be dreading it too.
