Ha, mate was saying that Ecuador were a good price and I said, I wouldn't bet Brazil against them for that very reason.

I mean the regime worked thousands of modern day slaves to death to build the stadiums.Originally posted by shanks69 View Post
Why is anyone even remotely shocked that they don't give a **** about 'the little people' attending games?

And we have not even gotten to the stage when people are trying to leave the country after all this.
Will be no surprise to hear of people being detained long enough to miss flights along with a slew of arrests for offences against their backward laws.
Bit like how WWE wrestlers, the ones that travelled via regular airlines rather than private jets, ran into problems in Saudi some years back and were not allowed to leave the country until days after their original flights had left.
Qatar is no different and they are happy to treat a big % of their own people like second class citizens, people are kidding themselves if they think that the Qatari authorities will see a bunch of foreigners as even being second class.
The World Cup is just a commodity to them and the fans that have travelled are just part of that commodity as far as Qatar is concerned.
russia and Qatar as back to back hosts of the WC. Wonder what will be the next couple of despotic ****holes to host it in the probably not too distant future. Saudi are bound to want one at some point.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

No way Saudi would accept any alcohol sales. Bahrain is too small to host a WC, so I can't see it happening. UAE possibly, and they still have restrictions on alcohol sales. I think Sharjah is still dry, but all the hotels serve alcohol in AD and Dubai.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View Post

Hopefully this teaches FIFA a lesson, football in deserts doesn't work, whatever time of year you choose to hold it!
hopefully 2030 will be Europe and 2034 the Far East. Seems the group of countries as host model is becoming more common & accepted. That's good because it cuts down on the costs for the hosts. We are here for a good time not a long time....

Is it wrong that I am hoping for lots of legal proceedings with Budweiser suing FIFA and FIFA suing Qatar for breaches of contract

Nope.
Just a shame that a beer company not being able to sell beer is more newsworthy than thousands of deaths caused by slave labour.
But will take any damage to this world cup that I can get along with further highlighting of the way countries like Qatar operate and how organisations like FIFA operate.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I said something similar above, but money is the only thing FIFA care about

If alcohol is on sale elsewhere eg hotels, fan parks etc. But not at the grounds I imagine that could result in fans who want to drink arriving late at the stadium, if that happens in any significant numbers there could be problems. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Or they drink a lot at the hotel and go onto the streets in Qatar drunk or deemed as being too drunk by local authorities.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I think that would probably have happened with some fans anyway.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostOr they drink a lot at the hotel and go onto the streets in Qatar drunk or deemed as being too drunk by local authorities. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
