Thanjk you.

FFS its 10 pm and he still hasnt signed..............this is outrageous, I could have got this speculation anywhere on the internet I demand my £30 back.......................................OH hang on.................
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"
Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"
Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"
He's a far better player than Warnock. Whether he would get in the Manc side or in the Chav side is a different matter but that could be said for several of our current squad.
Not only that but he's not being brought in as a first choice player anyway.
Don't be too sure, Ralph. I think he may well start more games than Riise and possibly Finnan, especially away from home...
Hmmm...well with Riise in such ****e form it's possible. But I think he's coming in because he can play anywhere in the back line to a good standard rather than because we want him as our first choice in any particular position.
Neills discplinary record is awful, he gets booked nearly every game, not forgetting he's an ok player. He in my opinion is just a squad player no more.
If Alves comes he will push Finnan down the pecking order. The wee Brazilian has been having a magnificent season for Sevilla so far.
Yeah, over the last five years in the league he has racked up more disciplinary points than almost anyone. Atrocious. Still, some the mettle that comes with it is no bad thing.

he might hold himself to higher standard playing for us, i hope so, this is the first time weve signed a player ive completely loathed before his arrival. i know hes a decent player and will be a good signing, but it doesnt change the fact i think hes a dickhead. but then again he'll be our dickhead and we do need a hardman in the team. bunch of nice guys out there, even bellers has gone soft in his old age

People go on and on about this. Not long ago I did a comparison between Gerrard and Neill and they had similar records. Also Neill is a defender so he's got more of a chance of getting bookings and red cards.
Momo isn't exactly an angel either when it comes to his disciplinary record.

Look at the stats again, there is a massive difference
Take your point about Momo, but Neill is far worse. A fullback shouldn't be picking up the same number of cards as a defensive CM player anyway, never mind more. Neill will be a good signing but let's not pretend he's not a very dirty tackler.

There's not a lot of difference if you compare their stats since Neill has moved to Blackburn and played in the Premiership.
A lot of Gerrard's red cards were for horrific tackles(not to mention the one he got away with v Everton), when you look at defenders they just have to tap someone as a last man and they can get sent off. eg. Neill against us in the League Cup.
I hated Neill after what he did to Carra, but after watching him under Hiddink for Australia and seeing how much he matured I can say that I rate the lad highly.

As a fullback you shouldn't be finding yourself in a situation where you commit 'last man' professional fouls too much, that's CB territory and even then it's not a regular thing hopefully! If you wanted the stats...
According to Yahoo! Sport - Totals in league games '01 - present (or whenever they last updated it this season)...
Massive difference. In the last five years Neill has always been in the top ten most ill-disciplined Premiership players. His record is bad compared for a player of any position but it is rare for a fullback to have such a record. Not that he won't be a handy player for us, I think he'll provide quality cover across the back line.
Now granted Neill has more, but I disagree with you about him being found in positions to make a foul. Neill has played all accross the defence, has played for a poorer team and a team which has had to use it's physicalness to make up for it's lack of ability.
Gerrard has played for a team which you'd expect to control and dominate most games.
I'm not saying Neill hasn't got stuck in a lot but I don't think he's the dirty hacker he's made out to be.
