Makes me laugh all this about you cant blame him for thinking about higher wages. Hes hardly gonna be skint and doing all his shopping in Netto once hes finished playing football is he.
Hes been playing football in the Premier lge for a while now so will already have more cash then we can only dream about.
Whats more important adding a couple of million to an already large bank account or trying to win some medals to show his grankids when hes finished playing.

Can I phone a friend on that?
"Hey, Becks, what's more important............................."
West Ham have leapt to the front of the queue for Lucas Neill and are close to tying up a deal for the Australian star, skysports.com has learnt.
Transfer window special - click here
Neill has also been in talks with both Liverpool and Newcastle, with long-time favourites Reds once looking likely to seal a move.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is keen to secure Neill, but he has thus far failed to offer a suitable package to the 28-year-old.
However, following talks - Neill looks as if he could be heading back to London, where he starred for Millwall before joining Blackburn.
Rovers have given up hope of persuading the defender to stay at the club and are now set to cash in on a player, who could depart for nothing in the summer.
West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is looking to spend big this month as he tries to save The Hammers from relegation.
Nigel Quashie and Luis Boa Morte have already signed and now he is obviously hoping that Neill will join the influx.
While West Ham close on Neill's signature, it cannot be ruled out that both Liverpool and Newcastle may make last-ditch bids to grab him.
Should West Ham finalise the transfer it is not thought Paul Konchesky will be heading in the opposite direction as part of this deal.
There are a few quotes at the bottom of that on skysports now :-
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has suggested that The Reds would not make a renewed bid for Neill.
"We are continuing working on these things but we will not wait. If a player wants to come to play for Liverpool, he must say yes quickly," said Benitez.
"If he thinks about it for too long, maybe it’s a signal it’s time for us to look for other players. We have alternatives."
Strange how there are no quotes from the player or either club. Might just be a slow news day
We managed to rectify it, though, because it now says, "Cook" where it once said "Cock", and "Pass" where it once said "Piss", so it’s slightly less rude.
Over on the 'other' site the Informer has said that we've offered Neill 70,000 a week!
UN.BE.LEIVABLE.
We should **** Neill off anyway. Anyone who is even prepared to consider joining West ****ing Ham when our interest in him has been public knowledge for months deserves to be ****ed off.
He was never anybody's dream signing so let's **** him off and turn our attention to those other players Rafa claims to have lined up.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think the grandkids would rather being set up financially for life than to be told how grandad nearly got on the pitch in Liverpool's record Champions league win...

Hopefully it won't be that boy Srna he has lined up.

You make a good point there, however £20k a week is not bad money!
I know footballer's have 'short' careers etc etc but £20k a week is not at all bad. To be honest I respect him if he would rather move to Newcastle or West Ham for more regular football, that's fine by me, but if he wants to join them for extra money and is trying to hold us to ransom then we shouldn't bother. He'd be a good addition but there's tons of players around, Newcastle and West Ham are much more desperate than we are.
Who is the Informer? Think I've seen him on another LFC site before...
