At £20k a week he would earn £80k a month, and £960,000 a YEAR. That is how much you can earn on £20k a week as a footballer. Not bad at all. Also West Ham need to be careful, I heard they offered that Young around £50,000 a week, although it's just rumours, you can't spend too much on wages taking into account they have quite a big squad.

If he wants regular football though then West Ham or Newcastle are the places to go, if he wants lots of money then the point I just made is the same. If he wants to come here, fight for his place and actually have a chance of winning trophies then I'm happy, he could earn £20,000-£30,000 a week, how many of us earn that in a year!

I think that Lucas Neill has obviously decided to follow the money rather than his actual ambition of playing for us. If that is the case then he's not the player for us.

I honestly wasn't that keen on his signing anyway so I won't lose any sleep over it.

          Good post.

I think the majority agree with that, that he wasn't a signing that you don't mind "losing" out on. He'd be a good addition but like you said you won't lose any sleep over it.

Is Neill holding out for Barca or Milan?
I heard that they were also linked..
            It's more understandable than Hammers!

            Not forgiveable mind... but understandable

I actually hope we don't sign the ******* - I don't even care how much money he wants - we already have one ****e aussie in the side - as for giving warnock away for him is a joke - we could make 1.5 to 2M for warnock imo

That Neill is wanted allegedly by Milan or Barca?

                    Apparently so...

At least it was so last summer after the World Cup

At least that's what his agents claimed

and some Milan official ( Might have been Braida) confirmed that Neill was an option although they would prefer Oddo (of course this was before they bought Bonera) because they knew other clubs were interested. Mind this was well before we were linked with him, but that's what I heard at least. Could be because Milan were worried about Calciopoli though...

The Barca links I have seen again from speculative reports which don't make any sense, but if it's Neill's agents creating rumours, it could be them making problems as well.

                      welcome shelly.
seen the reports liking him with both clubs, not sure what to make of them, wouldnt be supprised if there was a little bit of truth in them as he did have an ooutstanding world cup.
I reckon he may well be cursing his agent at the moment though. wonder how he will feel playing his football in the first division.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Funny that both Dunk AND the Informer making the same basic error

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

Incredible that Barca or Milan would be interested in him, a classic World Cup link if you ask me.

to be fair, the aussie paper said 170.000 aussie dollars witch mounts to 70.000 gbp

At west ham he would be a first team player at a big club, get a very good wage and if west ham get relegated someone like newcastle will just buy him and he will be back in the prem next season.

I hope he does come here as I think he is what we need at left back but I would not blame him if he decided to go to west ham or newcastle.
West Ham a big club??? Sorry i dont think so.
