This could be true as i have said in the earlier post. He could just as easy stay at Blackburn better wages captain of club and seen out the best years of his career and retired comfortablely, less ambitious but more closer to that beach house on the gold coast

Apparently his agent has said he's agreed terms with The Hammers and he's put in an escape clause in case they go down FFS!! The mercenary *******!!!

From The Times:- 'Neill, 28, the Blackburn Rovers defender, was also expected in London last night to undergo a medical before putting the finishing touches to a £1.25 million move that is expected to earn him more than £50,000 a week. “Lucas has agreed terms on a 2½-year deal with West Ham and is looking to the challenge ahead,” Peter Harrison, his agent, said last night. He is understood to have insisted on a clause in his contract that allows him to leave if West Ham are relegated.'

What a cretinous wank if he choses the bigger paycheck and the odd extra game at West Ham.

As I said. Lucas Neil can **** off big time. I was never really keen on him in the first place, but now more than ever.

His loss IF it is true. While I think he could of been a good signing for us I won't lose any sleep over not signing him.

Totally agree. IF this is true then Rafa will have another plan in place I expect (hope). I think Neill would have been a decent signing, but as you say, it's not worth losing sleep over.

I don't want anyone playing for us who is more focussed on money than trophies.

Ayala on loan instead maybe, according to Maddock, who's usually pretty clued up about LFC.

EXCLUSIVE Rafa rage as Aussie snubs Kop for double-your-money move to West Ham
By David Maddock & John Cross

LIVERPOOL boss Rafa Benitez has blasted Lucas Neill after he turned down Champions League football at Anfield to double his money at relegation-haunted West Ham.

The Blackburn star was heading for a medical in London after Alan Curbishley offered him £60,000 a week to join their scrap to stay in the Premiership.

Benitez was stunned by the decision. Liverpool offered £25,000 a week, although the deal would have been reviewed once he was established in the team. Neill had indicated he was keen on a "dream" switch to Liverpool, and insisted then that he would ignore overtures from the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle.

Benitez, who will now approach Valencia to take Roberto Ayala on loan, said: "If he thinks about the move too long, then maybe that tells us that he is not the sort of player we want."

However, the 28-year-old could be left high and dry by his decision.

Blackburn had agreed to swap Neill with Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock. With Liverpool almost certain to withdraw their offer of Warnock, it leaves Neill sweating on his future.

Rovers will still try to sign Warnock by offering £2million, and insisting that West Ham match that figure for Neill.

And West Ham's spending was set to continue last night with Spurs defender Calum Davenport poised to move in a £3m deal.

Guardian also mentin the Ayala loan thing:

Liverpool are exploring the possibility of signing the veteran Argentina centre-half Roberto Ayala from Valencia until the end of the season. The 33-year-old, a mainstay of Rafael Benítez's hugely successful side at the Mestalla, is expected to join Villarreal at the end of the season when his contract expires.

I won't mind him going to London. If/When/Hopefully the investment goes through, Rafa will be able to go after the players he really want's, not just short term stop gags. Take the money Lucas and go relegation zone.

Well Neill can go feck offthen. Turning down CL footy to play for a team that 50-50 to remain in the EPL. If West Ham go down, can't imagine that many EPL teams Q-ing up for his services.
