I disagree. Watch him more closely. His first touch is appalling the majority of the time. I honestly cannot remember a Premiership player with a worse first touch on such a consisitent basis and that's what worries me about him. Surely he should have the basics right by this stage of his career?
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely in a prettily preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways in a shower of gravel and party shards, thoroughly used, utterly exhausted, and loudly proclaiming: "F*** ME, that was BRILLIANT!"

Cisse also had a **** first touch.
A bit shocking that top footballers lack this basic skill, to be honest.

And, to your reply above, it is not the first time I say this either.

Very, very disappointed with Kuyt yesterday is it just me or does he seem to to going backwards(i mean form since the start of the season not backwards towards his own goal

He drops deep and works hard but why?

We have Marsh, Sissoko(another negative central pairing) Aurellio and Gerrard(defensive left and right sided midfielders)

What we need to do to stop this shi+ football-

        1. Sissoko can never play with Alonso or Marsh in the centre again(otherwise we may never score another goal from centre midfield)

        2. Kuyt must play as a striker, not as a fu*king midfielder.

        3. Stevie must play in the centre only and have his shackles loosened.

        4. Maximum 3 long balls per game.

        5. Play more offensive wingers(Aurellio and Gerrard out on the wings ffs)

        6. Let your opposition no their role(Villa pish)

Thats AKs six point plan to enjoying watching a Liverpool game sometime this century ; )

          4. Maximum 3 Hoofs per game.

          5. Play Pennant because he gives the other team something to think about and no matter how frustrating (he is only a £6M player) he still puts in at least 3 goal scoring crosses every game.

          6. Pay no attention to opposition below the top 6, just play our game.

In fairness to Stevie it must be infuriating to see Momo TRY to pull the strings in the middle when he could be doing a far better job.

I said in a previous thread its horses for course and there will be certain games where Sissoko is invaluable

Kuyt is a second striker, not a line leader. He always drops off and for that reason we need our other striker to be on the shoulder of the last defender with pace and movement and who is decidedly more potent than Bellamy

                3. Stevie must not sulk when not playing in the centre.
                Agreed, not captains behaviour

                4. Maximum 3 Hoofs per game.
I honestly cant see that ever changing with Rafa in charge. We are a long ball team and that seems to be that.

                5. Play Pennant because he gives the other team something to think about and no matter how frustrating (he is only a £6M player) he still puts in at least 3 goal scoring crosses every game.
He's got better as the seasons gone on but no way should he be a regular starter for a top 4 side. Squad player at best.

                6. Pay no attention to opposition below the top 6, just play our game.
Again, will never happen while Rafa is in charge and every game is approached with an overly cautious, defence minded nature

There's no way Fowler should be starting ahead of Kuyt, that's laughable.

So what he comes to life when he's within two yards of goal! I mean come on!

He's too fat, too slow, Love you Robbie, but it's over.

i do watch him closley mate.

its his second touch. Watch again, he often brings the ball down fine....it when he knocks it on that he stuffs up. He doesnt lose the ball that often, but when he does this it breaks down our attacks, as he has to go backwards.

Now when he trys to touch the ball into space....ala Zidane. Thats where he really gets into trouble.

I would have hoped some of Fowler's anticipation would have rubbed off on some of the others.

I think you have to look at Rafa's tactics in all honesty. Our strikers are playing as forwards at best, midfielders at times. We need to get it sorted... quickly.

You cant teach anyone the anticipation that Fowlers got, its totally natural and instinctive, youve either got that or you havent.

Totally agreed about Rafas tactics, at some time or other during a game, both of our strikers drop deep giving us a 6 man midfield.

Pains me to say it but Robbie is only good as a late sub. Last 30 mins or so at most.

Kuyt needs to play forward more, get in the box FFS! That is Rafa's tactic.

He's lacking presence in the box is so frustrating. Even yesterday the last 10mins when we had the ball in the final 3rd, he still wasn't getting himself into the box!

Au contraire... possibly it is talent for some people i.e. Robbie. He always had it.

However, you can teach people to move into position, get goal side, attack the near post, go into the channels when the team is defending etc.

Some people will never learn these skills... Cisse was a classic example. He could score goals, but he was horrible at the basics. WOEFUL actually.
