hell i'd rather have Jonathan Stead than Owen. i simply don't want him near this club not at any fee. i wouldn't even take him on a free. don't care how good he is. he wanted away so he should stay away."I have decided to escape, to defy the shogun. I can understand how Owen would benefit physically from the rotation policy but we've all seen how Owen has needed a run of games to play to his potential. I think he needs to play every week to maintain his sharpness.Originally posted by Sir Bob View Post100% yes.
He's proven at every level, would fit in straight away, and would benefit from Rafa's rotation. oh and he's an LFC legend.
I agree he's a legend as well by the way. The 2000-2001 season was his pinnacle I think. He could have been immortalised in Liverpool folklore though if he hadn't jumped ship or if he'd have buried one of those 4 or 5 chances he had in the Bay Arena in 2002.Last edited by Los Rojos; 14-04-07, 01:26 PM.

The question is; does he improve our first team. The answer is a resounding yes for me. In which case regardless of the supposed baggage that some of you think he carries - laughable when compared to Pennant and Bellamy - at the right price he would be a good signing.
Proven at all levels. All this "he shafted us" stuff is supposition and opinion not fact. Are you the Judean People's Front?

I think that was only when coming back from injury TBH mate. Another point is that I think he would prefer a manager putting an arm round his shoulder, but then so did Stevie!Originally posted by Los Rojos View PostI can understand how Owen would benefit physically from the rotation policy but we've all seen how Owen has needed a run of games to play to his potential. There are risks, but then there is with any signing.Forwards.......

He left, for a very low fee, at a young age when we where getting a new manager in.Originally posted by Spionkop69 View PostThe question is; does he improve our first team. there are loads of players that have the quality but not the right mentality, so saying the only thing that matter is the quality he brings with him is nonsense...Originally posted by Spionkop69 View PostThe question is; does he improve our first team. Yeah, that might be true. He definitely struggled for 7 or 8 games after coming back from injury. I can't really think of too many occasions that he was left out by Houllier for either Fowler or Heskey, when he was fit and flying.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostI think that was only when coming back from injury TBH mate.

no, not ever again. He's not eventhe player he was 2 yrs ago, let alone a threat. Injury prone, lost his pace, wouldnt suit our style of play and has nothing else left to offer to compensate.Originally posted by Xabi_is_GodJust saw this and said id piss everyone off by starting a michael owen thread

Owen scored in more % of the games for us than Robbie. That is a FACT. So if he needed a run of games before he scored then Robbie must be even worse.Originally posted by Los Rojos View PostI can understand how Owen would benefit physically from the rotation policy but we've all seen how Owen has needed a run of games to play to his potential. According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
