A mate of mine was asking me the other day did I think we would do anything for Rhys and this a fantastic gesture from our club. RIP Rhys YNWA.

Tragic events like this put football into perspective.

Hope our fellow reds match the class of Parry and co. :fingerscrossed: or it will only back fire on us all, and be seen as bad judgement. Let's hope we can trust our own fans to show some respect to the deceased. I can only recall the toffees being respectful after we lost 96 of our own.

It`s about a little boy being killed. Nothing to do with rivalry`s. It would not matter to me if the child in question was a united fan.

Agreed, but it only takes just one idiot to ruin it for everyone.

Read some of that crap on the liverpool way forum. Are they complete morons over there? How can it be a bad thing to show respect for someone from the city and who was a huge fan of football.

If it had been a Liverpool supporter who was killed would they have a display of remembrance for he/she? Of course they would. But thats not the point. The point is that it is a life lost in Liverpool and it should be remembered whoever they support.

I sincerly hope that some of the people on that forum are not going to the match tonight

                        So true shaggy

I trust in my fellow reds though that IF there is an idiot he is given the biggest beating he has ever/will ever receive.

Judging by the ******s on theliverpoolway there could possibly be a beating or two. At least with it being a minutes applause instead of silence they should be drowned out.

Personally, I don't think this kind of gesture belongs in football. It gives too much importance to football for a start. As if playing a song at a football match is a profound mark of rememberance and respect.

If it help the parents come to terms with the sitation, however, then fair enough.

It is to the family, and football was the kids life (and death unfortunately) so it makes it a very profound mark of rememberance.

It`s happening so deal with it.

Clearly not something I have to 'deal with'.

A great tribute for the little lad.

Posted by Rhys's uncle on RAWK:-

Just want to add my thanks to Tony for the original suggestion, and for all his subsequent efforts on this, it's a unique idea, to honour the memory of a unique lad, must admit I'm a bag of nerves over tonight myself, but have been re-assured somewhat by the the posts I've been reading across several LFC Forums. I can fully understand some people's misgivings on the nature of the tribute, who knows what the right thing to do is in a situation like this, I certainly don't, but i do know we've all been overwhelmed by the level of support from people, whether by their thoughts or their deeds.
Must also say that Rick Parry has been superb, I know the fella gets plenty of stick on here and elsewhere when fans think he's got it wrong, but he deserves full credit for his handling of this, which I might add he's done personally throughout.
                                RIP Rhys
